Over this winter iv have been upgrading and overhauling the suspension on my sv and generally cleaning it up for this years trackdays and ride outs.
Come this winters overhaul, im turning my attension to the engine and trying to squize some more ponnies out of her, but before i do i have noticed that there have been a few comments about a weak crank.
So i was wanting to know what the problem or problems are with the crank before i p*** money down the drain :D
I have 2000 sv with about 10,000 miles and was thinking about a 700cc bore kit and maybe a few home mods in my workshop so any info would be invaluable, thanks jimmyb.

The cranks snap anyway.
It is a problem because of the inertia of the alternator acting across a weak point.

I would buy flatslides, not big bore.

So whats the first thing to do with the crank then? sort the alternator for a spears supersport one or an sps crank from america? And arnt flatslides going to be more expensive than the bore job?

Yeah aftermarket alternator, lightened starter clutch.
Flats, more expensive than big bore job but better pickup and no penalty in reciprocating mass.
