Anyone else got a power cut? I've called Scottish Power but apparently half of Scotland is out and we will be lucky if it is restored by mid day!
Me no likey!
Nope we are fine so I guess it's snow related. How are you posting? 3g and laptop?

No snow here! Only wind and rain! I have a blackberry!
Blackberry's are good. a bit of news re the power outage:
From www.thecourier.co.uk
And further north more than 1000 homes in the Mearns were left without power for around seven hours.
Heavy snowfall overnight brought down overhead power lines on the Garvock Hill, which lies between St Cyrus and Laurencekirk.
St Cyrus was completely cut off from 4am until mid morning, along with a wide surrounding area.
A total of 20,000 homes were left without power in central and southern Scotland, ScottishPower said.
-----
A spokesman for Scottish Hydro-Electric said the Mearns power failure was due to the icing over of the lines in sub-zero temperatures after the heavy snowfall. The conditions also made it difficult for engineers to get access.
He said, “We managed to get around 300 customers reconnected around 6am by rerouting them to another supply, but another 1000 homes were without power until 11am.
(Other bits about general weather edited out to make it smaller for phone viewing)

what you mean they have electricity in scotland
next you'll be telling me they have stopped using horses and carts
dont worry ive got a small genny here that should put out the required electric your country needs its 55w
Dave thanks for the offer of the genny, but the pigeons won't be able to carry it!! If you could dismantle it I will send them down to pick it up. Just give them a bit of bird seed and then shoot one of them to show them you mean business - don't worry they're not mine!!
Cheers:smt026
PS how do you get gas into a genny, we still use the lamps up here:compress:

You can't have a power-cut, the car headlights are working on the road outside!

It's a power cut, not an EMP attack!

Weird to hear about all this when I am just sat at work with the lights on and a light drizzle outside. Any of you got snow days then?

Anywhere south of Watford Gap is civilisation. Even my daughter, who was born and brought up in Leicester will agree, and she's moved south because of it. (she's barely in Her Majesty's Glorious and Civilised South though, living in Warwick)

Any of you got snow days then?Fat chance working from home. :( Power glitches made the morning unproductive and frustrating if that counts? The blizzard had piled snow three feet high against the house but is melting everywhere else :D

Well I just had dinner, which was nice. Had a warm shower.. However my garage door is broken, but thats not due to lack of power...more a lazy, usless landlord. Oh its a little cold here.

I worked from home today. Good thing too - the trains have been screwed all day and the local BT hub had a flood followed by an electrical fire so Lord's have had no phones all day. I've happily worked in peace all day.
