I recently resurrected my VT after a period in storage in my dad's garage and put it back on the road earlier this year to use as a commuter, but having recently acquired a VFR750 to do the commute on, the little 250 is surplus to requirements.

I've owned the 250 for about the last 7 years when I purchased it to fall in line with the 33bhp restriction I had after doing my test. I rode it for 2 years and it's been in storage for about 5 years as I moved onto bigger and better bikes and I've put a good proportion of the miles on it. It's in overall good nick I'd say, although as a D reg bike (1987) it could do with a bit of fettling here and there to tidy it up (removable frame and swingarm mainly).

Bike summary:

18.8k miles
Taxed and tested to Jan 2011
Braided front brake hose
Forks overhauled Dec 09 (seals, oil)
New Maxxis tyres (about 800 miles on them I think)
Oil and filter change in Jan this year
Universal fits nothing handguards and fork gators fitted for commuting

Pretty much all original, slight scuff on tank covered with a white vinyl "plaster" to prevent rust, but not massively noticable (been on it a fair while!) See updated pics.

Spares include:

Both side panels (same colour as bike)
Front mudguard (same colour)
Tail plastic (same colour again)
Pair of forks, disassembled and in need of some TLC
Spare removable part of the frame (needs re-painting though, but is in better overall nick than the one on the bike)
Plus a couple of sundries not worth individual mention.

PM me or send me an email (jasonainge@hotmail.co.uk) if you have any questions or would like to come and see the beast in the flesh.

I'll take £500 for everything.

Cheers
Jase

Awww this brings back memories!!! I had one, probably in a lot worse nick... When I got the SV650 I was shocked at how the VT flexed, was that just because mine was old you think?

Got to say im tempted as a commuter... These actually have 36bhp at the wheel, I found out cos I had one to stay in the 33 limit, Dyno'd higher lol. Woops :p That makes it more powerful than a modern Kawa ninja 250!!! Crazy.

Mine seems to handle quite well for a smaller bike, and seemed to cope ok with my ample frame (air regulated preload helps with this). It's obviously not in the same league as a sports bike or more modern bike, but on the other hand it is way better than a CG125 or similar.

Yeah they are supposed to be around 35/36hp but in the context it doesn't make much odds, still gives you that feeling that you're sticking it to the man and not entirely sticking to the letter of the law though :D

Wow that looks just like my old MBX125!

Righto, I've added some new pictures as promised.

I kinda think the bottom two are a bit surplus, but it's just to show that patch and the removable section of the frame that's looking a bit tired. I think these sections rust on all VT's as it's used as part of the coolant system. As in the ad above, there's a spare with the bike for titivating.

I think flaminsquirrel was looking for something similar. Drop him a PM.

As in the one with the underscore in the username?

Isn't he London-way? Might be a bit far?

And like a ninja the correct Squirrel appears...

Thanks for thinking of me G2D, but I decided on the RS50. And then job problems kicked in. My search is on hold but hopefully once things settle down will be back on.

Jase good luck with the sale, that would make a fine commuter for someone out there.

Cheers - didn't think it quite fell into the category you were after when I just read your post. Slight difference to this and an RS50!!!

On the commuter front, hope someone else thinks so or it'll have to go on t'eBay as it's really got to go (and I'll have to keep my fingers well and truely crossed that I don't come a cropper to a time wasting eBay eeeejit!)

Price dropped to shift it. It's a little tight with this and my bike and my bro's DT125 in the shed and so the VT needs to go. Grab a bargain.

I'll just give this baby a quick bump to see if there's anyone feeling plush going into the weekend!
