About to wire up an IP44 plug to my extension lead for camping duties.

Am I correct in thinking the top larger pin is the earth?

Normally, but you can also get different position lugs on the plugs and sockets

Yeah big one is earth. Should be indicated on the reverse of the plug.
They are refered to as CEE-Forms. 16a in your case.

Cheers,

All ready to go camping, everything is rated for 2300Watt+ so should power the little ceramic heater I have for my tent this weekend.
