Had an email today from Swinton bike insurance advertising the fact they now sell "Extra terrestrial encounter" insurance,
Given that this is available in America i found it amusing a uk company would bring themselves to sell it only to cash in on muppets, but I though, hey, id post the details on here as a giggle...
only to click on the link to be told April fools..
didn't find it very funny, afterall I lost loads of money from work last time I was abducted.
TF its near as dam it friday

Yup, was got with some sticky tape over the bottom of my mouse sensor.
Totally forgot the date, just assumed my mouse was bust.
Took a couple of restarts and plug/unplug of the mouse before I twigged.

Why haven't I done this?!
All I've done is told my mate I ran over his dog :smt090
I'm gonna get a bit more creative.

Two of the best ones for office workers, often even confuse tech support.
If someone leaves their PC unguarded hold CTRL-ALT and down or left or right arrow.
It will rotate their screen (down for upside down etc)
not so helpful on screens with GFX drivers that allow this via a GUI or the rotating screens, but will confuse the hell out of most.
The other is to set an..amusing gif or animated pic as the "Active desktop" background.

If you know someone with a multiscreen setup, go into their display properties and there's an option to move the arrangement of the screens. Make it so to get to the screen on the left, they have to go off the bottom!

You mean Ctrl-Shift (high contrast) :)
Combined with Ctrl-Scrl wheel you can make the screen font mahusive as well.

Take screen dump
set image as wallpaper
minimize all open apps
sit back and watch as your colleague (who didn't lock their workstation) goes nuts trying to get the app to work again
office record is 15mins :D

Here's my list, in order:
0) Take a screenshot of their current display and rotate it 180 degrees it for later use
1) Set high contrast, stickykeys and swap mouse buttons
2) Change system sounds to one of the wierdo sets
3) Change the screensaver to display the screenshot from step 0
4) Invert display. Note that when the screensaver comes up it'll look normal - until they press a key
5) Sticky tape on the mouse
6) Plug your cordless mouse into the back of their PC and move their cursor around whenever they move their now useless mouse.
7) remember to lock your own PC every day for the next six months

LOL the swap with your own mouse step is a nice touch.
Worst is at LAN (starting today over the whole BHoliday weekend), any unlocked machine, even for a second, is pounced on, even if you fall asleep at your desk.
Many a person has suffered Lan death only to wake and find a 10 minute video of them on you tube playing of them asleep at their pc with their hands tucked down their pants and meatspin set to their desktop background.

Another fine game on a LAN is to install VNC then you can 'help' them from time to time...

Swap keyboard keys round. Either to random places or to spell naughty words :compress:
One that gets done farily often round here. If a new helmet arrives for somebody and they're not here. We carefully open the bottom of the box and replace the shiny new helmet with an old battered one.
These all get done whether it's April Fools or not
