A quick google suggest that UK passport holders do require a visa but that you may be able to get it on arrival

Best to speak to a travel agency, or the Kenyan embassy in London?

My Mam went there for a month or so a few years back, I'll ask her.

She says better to have it before you go so you're not messing around once you're there, it might also be a bit more money if you get it when you arrive.

Nah just buy visa on arrival at airport. Went there 2 years ago - no hassle at all. They're not likely to be fussy - they need the money. I'm assuming you and your OH are British or European?

In general, tourist visas are pretty easy to come by, especially in poorer countries.

edit: you'll need cash (pounds sterling is fine) to buy them with. Used to be $50 each, that was about £30 when I went. They've reduced it to $25 now so you're quids in.
