View Full Version : is there a differance between 1000 and 650 tanks?

Looking for a replacement fuel tank for my 650 k3 pointy and have found a 1000 tank. can i swap over the pump and fit it?

Seems to be some sort of extra clamp on one of them...see here...

The part numbers are also different by one digit...not sure if that matters in this case or not...


PS - not an expert - just nosey.

its been tried by a few people on svportal and as stingo says it has a differnt conector to the frame

K3 "S" tanks (we recently discovered) will not fit later years, but the inverse isn't true. Most cosmetic plastic will fit, with the exception of lowers. Clutch levers aren't interchangeable, as the 650 is a cable clutch. Speedo is different, 'cause the 650 uses a drive/sensor on the front wheel (1K's come off the final drive)
so it looks like you can do it

ok thats what i thought being its a k3 thou tank going on a k3 650. will get a picture up when it turns up

I thought the only difference between the 1000 tank and the 650 was the speed in which it emptied. :p

my tank came with a clamp so i just bolted the thing on :)
