EDIT: What's the deal for bedding these bad boys in? I remember reading something in the MCN about 18 months ago from one of their top writers saying that when bedding in a new set of pads & discs together, you should wear them in gently with gentle pressure from the brake lever like 10-15 times, then vary the pressure from low to high a few times etc... any tips on this?

I thought it was dave preston who called it the faggot bike? It's obviously right up your street then binky  even you remarked how much quicker I was on it ;)

lots, but the brakes at the mo are pretty shocking for what are meant to be 'amazing'... my svThou had better brakes and they weren't even 6 pots like the ones on the srad, and it's 12 years old with standard rubber lines - really doubt they've been replaced with more rubber lines over the years
:D yoshi can coming at some point this week as well :D
Mmmm...
So this is what happens when you suddenly become single again...

aye, basically when all your patience with someone is spent and you can't glue on a fake smile anymore, you chop said muppet and spend a bit of money while the bank of patience and politeness sorts out it's financial situation :)

Sorry Paul, but my immediate thought was you've changed some Chinese rubbish for some slightly better rubbish. Hope I'm wrong [-o<

it's alright pete, you used to have a mullet but I've never been a big fan of them myself
never really had a problem with EBC's stuff before - is there something I should be looking out for or reading up on? :)

Yeah could probably do with some brakes to go with that engine...
I bought some gixxer disks a bit ago, felt ill for days.

EBC are pretty good IMO. The prolite ones are great... they have bite which will make your eyes bleed :)
What else you got in aftermarket, galfers that explode for fun? Or stealth that warp for a laugh... OEM are pretty good but pricey and don't look purty.
You wanting me to fit whole lot then paul? If you wait about 2 weeks I will have a day free to do a complete rebuild of the lot.

Yes but metal, disk shaped and far more expensive.
EBC are good from what I've heard and experienced.

I'd be very interested to hear about what problems you've seen or heard about with EBCs mullet notwithstanding :)

as above I'm a lady boy or something apparently :)
nah, to be fair I tend to think of brakes as quite an important aspect of a motorcycle.. I'll happily fit a tail tidy, hugger, change oil & filter or air filter etc... but as for brakes, if I feck it up it's either gonna be expensive, painful, dangerous or a combination of the 3..
I'm fine changing pads and if I had the tools to get the front wheel off, the discs, but as for lines I know I'd make a corned beef hash of it :)

well i fitted the discs and pads all by myself today (and did an oil & filter change which was the more arduous of the two jobs). I've just done about 80 miles bedding them in and they feel muuuuuch better :) lot more bite and I think the suspension will need some adjusting as it dives much more aggressively now.
Just need YC to get on the braided lines & I'll be happy :D

Those forks are sprung and valved pretty soft.

let me guess, you think I could do with some after springs and some new oil mebbeh? they felt really good before i sorted the brake hardware, just need someone who knows a bit about setting up suspension to point me in the right direction with a screw driver & spanner
nowt wrong with EBC at all, very good kit. They tend to ship with protective coating/spray on them so dont let the pads come into contact with the discs until said discs have been thoroughly cleaned with brake cleaner.

oh good... thanks for letting me know flymo........ already fitted and bedded in - they seem to be working absolutely fine. I did read the instructions and it advised against heavy braking for the first few hundred miles but nothing about protective coatings. Is that usually with EBC's racing discs? These are the sporty street ones as in OP

If they have, they tell you on or in the box.
They definitely do with prolites as they tend to rust.

thought so - I would have noticed any oily/greasy coating as I unpacked them from their brown wrapping paper but there was definitely nothing on em thankfully :)

You would know about it if they were coated and you didn't clean them. Fact your brakes work suggests they're OK :-P

Well I glean most of my bike info from this site Chris, so if everybody else is happy with them I can't explain my prejudice against them :smt017. I have definately heard some negative comments towards them though.
My choice would have been Wavy's from the Braking Wave company as I've had those on my last two bikes and I've got a rear on the Duke.
Still as long as Paul is happy, that's always the most important thing .

My 1st set of ebc road discs warped, both sides. Hoping for more than a year out the 2nd set!
They are **** in the wet on initial braking compared to OE.
More power in the dry.
They look **** quick.
I would be paying the extra and going OE if I have to replace again. (Which I do, on a different bike, but with 8yr /54,000mile on it)

From STRAMASHER : " They look **** quick. " But they should be S L O W !
. . . a bit like the BMW ad which says " unstoppable " Yes, BMW, that was my R69S - worse brakes than my pushbike.
