Has anyone got one of these? At first I thought they looked a bit naff but then I thought.....I have a fairly big shed which I was maybe looking at replacing with an even bigger one to easily accomodate a bike as well as a lawnmower and 3 pushbikes etc.
But then I thought although they look a bit naff the sole purpose of these are for a motorbike nothing else, so never would it be a problem that when getting other stuff out of the shed would my pride and joy accidently get knocked by other items being shifted in and out of a shed.

They just look like a really naff foldy tent to me.

Just get a reeeeeealllly big shed, with enough room for three motorbikes and nothing else.

Problem solved :-)

get one of these http://www.trimetals.co.uk/motorcycle-storgage.php?m=3&g=8 then you get really secure, and enough room to work on the bike when the weathers rough

Not quite big enough for all the other stuff I need to store as well, and I haven't got room for two fairly big out buildings. The more I think about the bikebarn idea the more I think I might take the risk. I was just wondering about ventilation issues and it probably getting damp and/or humid.

There was a thread on these. Try the search.

AFAIR it was meant to be pretty crappy.

My mate has one and it keeps all the dust off it. Not a bad idea but an old bed sheet does the same thing.

So they aren't as waterproof and weather proof as they are made out to be?

You'd be better off using the shed to store the bikes IMO. You can work on them, they're properly out of the way and a bit more secure. Or a Stormex, which you can take with the bike, or pack down out of the way.

Store it in the kitchen, nice and warm, accessible and easy to make tea.

A friend has a Bikebarn - he rates it. It's only supposed to be a cover of course, but it's very easy to use which is why he has it.

we got a double sized one for 2 bikes. Worked well but didn't stand up to strong wind and rain, although the later designs have apparently changed the fabric to something more waterproof.

Main advantage is that it's a lot less faff to put on than a bike cover. Push bike in, flip down, done. But ours lasted less than a year before it fell apart, so it needs a protected area. I'd go with a shed, personally.

Make sure you secure it against the wind, it will blow away otherwise, and could tip the bike over. One advantage is you get airflow around the bike, helps stop condensation building up in the winter.

I still vote shed (as big as you can make it!)

thinking of an 8 x 10 shed with double doors as I have perfect space for it. Just worried about other people getting mowers out (yes my wife cuts the lawn not me!) and pushbikes out and catching my bike.

Old army blanket over the bike to save the paint. Or keep the puskbikes and mower under the bike barn. Which cost more, your bike or the mower etc?

Ha when you put it like that no brainer!!!! I have a decent shed at the mo a fairly big 8 x 6 but the doors at the wrong part at the side of the house and I can't switch it round as there would be no access alley. I think I will go with a 10 x 6 with the door at the right end my minds made up!
