If they have then thats where the fooking budget is going
Lets get labour out on may 6th ;)
So in short, they're doing everything they do every year at about this time of year.
Like I said in another thread - you moan about speed cameras and say "why aren't there real bobbies doing this job out on the roads?" and then when they put real bobbies out on the roads you moan about victimisation.
I have news for you all. We have speed limits - if you break speed limits you run the risk of getting caught, so tough if you don't like it. In my opinion the police are playing fair, at least they've warned you where they'll be carrying out these srt of acts, so you can avoid the areas.
I quite enjoy it when the police hold one of their operations to catch speeders and give me notice beforehand, because it encourages me to go and find new roads to go play on away from where they are.
So I say to all those who complain about the police's 'unfair' actions "grow up and stop your whinging"

Haha! Seriously dude, there is no WAY on this earth that they will be wasting a resource such as a helicopter on a few speeders! They will be probably aware there is an ongoing operation due to the risk of fail to stops and pursuits but it costs FAR too much money to send a helicopter up for speeding.
Don't believe a word MCN tells you.

They might not send one up specifically for speeding but there were those 2 guys in north wales caught by one.

The ones you refer to were riding like knobs and that's what they got done for. Speed was only part of their knobbery. The helicopter was up for something else when they were spotted.

Brunstrom is no longer Chief of N. Wales Police. The new guy has already 'abolished' mass bike pulls (so Bala now safe on Sundays?). Do keep up old chap
Having said that the N. Wales police chopper is used to target bikers if it is up anyway. I don't believe it is put up just to hassle bikers, but does so as part of SOP when in the air. You only need to look at some of the more candid entries in the 'Heli-blog' to see that, although you have to look a long way back to see any of those these days, they have learned to be more guarded in their comments ;)

I know Tw*tstrom is gone, but I just love the pic and I'm sure he'd have leased an Apache from the MoD to catch speeders if he could.

I generally agree, that I imagine the police would not send the chopper up just on the "chance" that there are bikes around. Or at least I would hope not.
However, as with what Lozzo says, if we speed, we face the consequences.
On a seperate note, a couple of years ago with Lily, Pete & Lissa we went to Abergavenny. At the time they had a small bikesafe awareness day on. They decided at one point to get all the police bikers in a big group shot for the local rag. All of a sudden, we noticed a chopper approaching.....some guy on the ground talking to the chopper on radio and then wasted approx ten minutes of fuel guiding the chopper into position low over Aber town centre so that it was in the background of the photo.
All the cops etc were laughing, most of the punters / bikers / Financiers of said chopper were stunned and appaled. Complete waste of money.
PS - Forgot to say......MCN does tend to print rubbish like this because one person says so. I beleive MCN Liam does write for the same company that do Ride / Bike / MCN etc (I seem to remember him saying he was doing write ups on SV / Gladius in the past). If so, please come and give your view point. :D

No chance, they'd never be able to do a risk assessment that would allow that to happen.... :)

Unfortunately we didn't get any, had no camera with us. I tried to hunt them down on tinternet but couldn't. There isn't anything on the bikesafe website for it.
