I'll see what the problem is this weekend if I can, if it turns out to be this then can I have dibs? If it's already sold then no worries.
NO DIBS NEEDED, K8 NOT COMPATIBLE WITH K3

Part numbers have a different suffix i.e. K3/4 - 34990-17G00 (http://www.alpha-sports.com/spart.php?part_number=34990-17G00), K5/7 - 34990-17G10 (http://www.alpha-sports.com/spart.php?part_number=34990-17G10), K8 - 34990-17G30 (http://www.alpha-sports.com/spart.php?part_number=34990-17G30).

However they all look the same to me. It's still available, let me know when you've spoken to a dealer/someone that knows.

Crescent Suzuki, Southampton, say the K3 part should be 34990-17G20 (supersedes the G00) and is NOT interchangeable with the K8. A new replacement from them is £110ish.

However, they recommended checking out the rotor which is available separately for twenty squid - if it's disintegrated, that should cure it.

Of course, my first thing to check will be any obvious wiring issues!

Sorry Nobbylad, will have to un-dibs myself, good luck selling it.

tallguy it will more than likley be the rotor, if your speedo sensor has gone i have a k3 one that you can have for P&P but it will need the old disintegrated rotor removing as its jammed in to the sensor befor you can use it with a new rotor

Thanks B, I really hope it's something easy as I have no garage or indeed any sort of stand to take off the front wheel!

I'll check it out this weekend and see what's what - your offer of a K3 sensor is much appreciated, hopefully it'll just be the rotor (or even an obvious wire loose somewhere easy to see, though I doubt it!).

Watch this space!

ps anyone know what the rev/gear combi for 30, 40 and 60mph are, on a K3 S?! Sorry officer, my speedo's bust...

You could always do the Gixer front end speedo mod which consists of a Hall effect sensor (£25) + some magnets (£5?). Although you'd need to check on how to mount the magnets on the SV disc.

^ not a bad idea

I think it's actually more accurate than the stock speedo, however some people might actually want to think they're doing 135mph+ (on a private runway)

Cheers guys, think I'll try to keep it simple and replace like for like. I don't have the knowhow or the tools to do the other clever thingy!

It's my main workhorse for commuting all year, and doesn't get pampered as much as it should! I don't mind if my speedo reads 70 when I'm actually doing 65, it's the other way round that would get me into trouble...
