View Full Version : Removing printing on leather
Last year I bought a Berik LJ5888 Jacket because the price was knocked down, it fitted really well and it felt like good quality. Unfortunately I've become unfond of the styling and think it's a little garish. I feel like a bit of a knob sometimes when I'm wearing it off the bike. I think it could be improved if it was possible to remove a couple of 'printed' features on it.
Does anyone know if its possible to remove the 'print' that feels a bit like a very thin plastic vaneer, a bit like the plasticy printing you get on T-shirts? I was wondering whether it could be ironed off perhaps?
This is the jacket http://aziende.freecomm.biz/390293/prodotti/S_BRKS-LJ-5888-BK.png
It's the eyes on the shoulders and the words 'MEGA PEAK' on the sleeves which sounds like something that would be written on children's clothing.

Nice jacket that.
Get over the styling and enjoy it for what it is, a great piece of bikewear.
Stop wearing it down the pub and you'll stop feeling a knob in it ;)

I really like the eyes and dont think it looks childish!!
Well thanks for your encouraging comments, its just that I wouldn't normally wear clothes styled like this.
Speedplay, I don't just wear it in the pub like a normal jacket, I mean when I get off the bike and walk about/shop etc.!

I'll happy add it to my berik collection :D
My one piece is even more chaved up than that jacket!

No problem. Just apply big 'No Fear' and 'custom biker' patches to your mates' jackets. People will be too busy pointing and saying, "what a nob" to notice your jacket.

Which one have you got? I realise mine is pretty tame by Berik's normal standards.
Nice thinking Keith:D

Speak to a local saddler, they work with leather and leather dye all the time and should know what can and cannot be removed.
Good luck :)

Awesome jacket better than mine.
You want mine? worn every day for only 6 years (and hasn't been washed).
TBH I can't see a problem - looks a nice jacket. I wouldn't be embarrassed wearing it down the pub.
