Hmm anyone get the feeling its rather difficult selling a bike these days?
Had my RS 250 on ebay over 2 weeks and only had 1 person come view it and he was a dreamer.
like these are hard to find and decent ones are very hard to find, being the last of there kind likely never anything like them to ever be manufactuered again youd think they would be more sort after.
Took me about 3months to find this one when i bought it, didnt think it was gona take me that long to sell it!
Maybe its the recession? everyones skint?

Being totally honest, why would someone want a 250 2 stroke when they can have a five year younger Fireblade for less money?

My bro in law got an 01 Fireblade with extra goodies for £2150. Looking on ebay recently, people are expecting a lot for their bikes.

only thing that makes selling anything difficult is the price mate-check it on parkers and you'll see how far away your machine is priced from their guide-good luck in the sale though

For that kind of money, I can get my hands on all kinds of fantastic kit. A 250 2-stroke is a niche bike, totally focused, and you'll never get back the money you paid out for it and any extras.

You can sell anything up to and including your house if the price is right.

If I had the money and the space in the garage I'd have it. Sadly I have neither !
It is a niche purchase, but there is something about the RS250 that makes me really want to own one one day. Whats the bHP IIRC around the same as the SV, but I think its a lot lighter and nimbler. But theres always the spectre of seizure and IIRC dont they need frequent top end rebuilds. I spent alot of time looking at them before settling for my SV.
I'd say if you are having trouble selling, you either are not advertising in the right place, or the price is to high.

That comes down to what you want from a bike. Given the choice between the two I'd have the RS250.
As for why the OP is finding it difficult to shift this example, I'd say its the price particularly with the current economy. Using the example above the FireBlade makes a more sensible choice as its more usable, the RS is very focused and will cost more to maintain if used regularly as it is intended.
While I'm no expert on the prices of RS250's (3XV's are where my interest is) I'd say its at the top of the price range, for that model and year in that trim. Parkers though is way off.

funnily enough I've noticed as a general trend the exact reverse, it's pretty easy to sell at the moment, as long as you are realistic and offer a ready to go practical package, the suns out and those without bikes are looking to buy.
Cheers Mark.

According to Parkers 10Hp
According to the OP's ebay listing 65 Hp

Correct. I've just sold my battered winter hack Dullville for way over the odds on Ebay.

You will only find it hard if you over price your bike if I was buying from a private seller I'd expect a good deal if I want to get a grand added to a bike I'd go to a dealer with there warranty 6 months tax and 12 month m.o.t

Well the bikes got now 11months MOT & tax remaining, just had full service (done by me).
Id be surprised if a dealer would give you a warrenty on a RS and if they did and anything went wrong youd have hell from most dealers trying to get anything back.
I find it strange and a little annoying when people claim their 'thing' is worth loads of money and then get all upset when no-one else realises this.
A 'thing' is only worth what someone will pay for it! That refers to bikes, jewelery, gadgets, houses and the rest. Nothing has any intrinsic value in itself

A dealer should give warranty on any bike they sell, even if its only three months, its not worth much but I reckon its better for business and reputation whatever the bike, to rectify a problem if one arose.

id be surprised if they didnt give you warranty and if they didnt stand by there warranty policies then I would think it would turn into a legal matter

I agree with your definition of value, but I cant see anything to get annoyed about here.No one seems to be getting all upset about things or have I missed something that got modded?

The OP used an exclamation mark ...

You've never ridden an Aprilia RS250, that much is very obvious.
It's a totally different bike to a Blade, and some people just adore strokers and the light flickable handling of the RS in particular.
A Blade is a sedate, comfy, capable bike, wheras an RS250 is a mental screamer that requires every ounce - and more - of your attention and effort to go half as fast, but delivers twice the grins.
