I am currently riding a Gen 1 Fazer1000. I suffer terribly with my back and legs but I still manage to ride my bike occasionally.

Even when the pain is manageable though I am very weak in my left leg.

I am quite short leg for my height 5'9" my inside leg is only 27" and I worry about the weight of the Fazer and I am thinking of changing it and having an SV instead.

Is this a good idea?

I have always liked the pointy SV but have never sat on one! I am currently off work again with another slipped disc, I have had my back operated on some time ago and have had 5 vertibrae reprofiled to try to make the discs more stable. I am really worried that this time I may have to have them fused together. Although I am quite OLD (some of you will think I am ancient at 54) I am not ready to give up biking altogether.

Thanks Guys hope you all enjoy the summer when it comes.

I would say the SV-N is a bit of a plank seating wise compared to the Fazer. But there is always Airhawk pads.

A plus of the naked/streetbikes though is you can endlessly fit different bars/risers to get your posture balanced to how you want.

If , as you say the weight of the Yam is bothering you then the wee N is much lighter at a standstill and through the corners. And nice and light on the wallet.:) Thin tyres help it turn a lot easier and make it feel nippy compared to having a fat one out back.

Both SV's, the standout point of them for me is the engine. Simply put its entertaining at any revs so you might not miss the power and torque of your litre bike quite as much.

Get well soon fella.

id sit on one as the sv has got a 2x4 piece of wood for a seat and the standard bars are about as wide as a tooth pick, the plank of wood you can live with but i found the bars were stupid so put some renthals on there :D
