Well I guess this is my introduction to this little area of the org. I'm pretty new here (as you can tell by my post count), but this little grouping is one of the primary reasons I joined the board.
Basically, my situation is that I collect my '01 black Curvy at 9.30 this morning, but unfortunately thanks to an annoying situation when I was doing my Mod 2 test (I sorta forgot bus lanes are out of bounds) I can't ride it yet, and the DSA is messing me around (To put it cordially) with re-booking my test.
However, as soon as I do pass I'll be out on the bike every hour I have free, and of course as you know, riding in a group is much more fun than riding alone, so I'll be tagging on to a lot of the rideouts and meets in the area.
I'm currently based in Horsley, 10 minutes from Guildford town center and pretty much smack bang between Box and Newlands, which is nice. ;)
To put it simply... hey, and expect to see a lot of me pretty soon :D
PS: Oh, and I like pie. A lot.
welcome to the .org, :smt006
bus lanes have sighs to say weather bikes are allowed, if they dont and your riding in them you may well find your self with a fine. Thum of rule dont ride in bus lanes unless stated otherwise...
good luck on yor retest..

Hi and welcome :D Thats going to be painful - nice new toy which you can't ride yet.
But anyway, gl with the test no 2!
Did you have probs with bus lanes in Guildford? I seem to remember from whe I did my test there that they don't all have the same time restrictions on them, v confusing.
Anyway, welcome :-D

Farnborough actually, the bus lane was mighty confusing because it went alone in ten meter blocks, then ten meters of normal carriageway, then bus lane... plus I was all flustered because I'd just missed a turn. Everything went to poo basically.
And thankyou. Picked up my SV this morning, should be riding around by the end of the month (fingers crossed!)
Good luck with your test (hopefully ASAP) You got a car? you could test ride a *good* trike at the Haslemere Fire Station tomorrow. Otherwise it's a good day if you want to be around bikes & biking.
Otherwise (again) hopefully see you for a pie on the 29th :D
Welcome

Ha, ha... I know exactly what you're talking about. I failed my first attempt at mod 2... in Farnborough... last September... in a bus lane!!
"At the end of the road, turn left and join the dual carriageway..."
**okay, here we go, look right - all clear - turn left... wha?? I'm in a bus lane?!! Sh**! Whaddo I do? It ends in about 20 yards... shall I leave the bus lane and then join the left lane again in 20 yards...? Nah, that's more dangerous than just staying here and riding it out... let's stay put, it's already finished now anyway...**
"Do you remember joining the dual carriageway in the bus lane?"
"Er... yes?"
"I'm sorry, you have been unsuccessful... had you immediately left the bus lane, then it might have been a different outcome."
*doh!*

Haha! Yes, exactly that! Probably something to test how well you read the road! Awful place to put a bus lane anyhow.
And indeedy, fingers, toes and other appendages crossed I shall be all passed by the evening of the 29th, hopefully insured too, so I can join all you lovely people for a pie. First person to work out who I am when I arrive will get a pie on me ;)

Just a little update, got off the phone to my instructor... the earliest re-test he can get for my Mod 2 is the 8th of May, trust me to be taking it in the busy season...
So unfortunately I won't be able to join you next Thursday for a pie, but don't let that ruin your night ;)
