Don't know if I am just cynical but I don't think it's an accident..

Good advertising on the other hand....

nah, no chance of this being on purpose from Apple. They are very secretive of any new information prior to official launch.

apple know how to market things and i think this is one of those slips to get all the tech geeks talking. if thats the new iphone i do like the look of it. but really for me it all comes down to price! i've got my 3g iphone now on a £30 a month rolling contract and i dont see what a new iphone would offer me that could justify changing from what ive got! hence only having the 3g and not the 3gs, do i need video and a compass on my mobile?!?!? nope!

There are plenty of people out there who will simply want one to say 'I have the latest'. Doesn't have to make any sense to upgrade. Me, I'm one of those that wait until they have all done it and then pick up 'last years generation' stuff cheaper. :)

A typical apple fan boi really.

Looks like (if this is legit) that they have left off external memory, battery replacement, for me 2 pretty important things. Im happy with my choice of Desire.

Personnaly, don't like the square look and losing the crome effect for me is a negative, but better battery life and better camera's a plus in my book.

I thought it was a cheap gimmick but it's actually surprisingly handy if you use Google maps for navigation as it rotates the orientation of the map for your direction of travel.

Apple in drip-feeding features and tech shocker. Works for them.

After reading a bit further, it's a set up by Apple and Gizmodo, why would you give a young tech geek the latested hottest items on the planet for him to leave in a bar stool, also Apple apprently bricked it remotely, but gizmodo say they got numbers from it to track the guy down!!!!

Probably get one though

i have never been an apple fan and i am your tycpical 21 year old I.T/Technology geek and i love my gadgets, i took the plunge and got the iphone a year back ... and it is the most inteligent phone out there i dont care what anyone else says and i will sell mine and put the money to get the new one when that comes out. not because i am an apple fan boy because there iphone is a really good device. and with so manny people owning the devices only more good can come from this imo.
I Know how i have got my iphone setup at the moment and the things i use it for no other phone can offer that.

Crikey she must be a bit ropey now, she was ropey when Hugh Grant had her!!

But seriously, I've not heard of them doing this before, why would they need to, there's enough hype as it is I would imagine.

It'll be out of fashion soon enough though, there'll always be some new machinery coming out to better it, and Apple find it hard to compete (hardware wise) against multiple manufacturers of other phones like Android ones. And given the Android O/S is catching up quick to the Apple one, it may not be a wise decision to pay over the odds for an iPhone (compared to most other phones).

iPhone?

iDon't.

Yeah, the other MP3 players on the market KILLED the iPod. Oh wait :p

Completely different area though! How about...the other personal computers on the market KILLED the iMac. Oh....

There wasn't much more to do with an MP3 player so it was all much of a muchness. There'll always be Apples willing to buy Apple products so it won't die. But IMO Apple will find it hard to keep pace when Android can hand off hardware development to other manufacturers. The integration costs will be less than the cost of developing the hardware themselves :o

Oh, and...you can see from the take-up of Android phones that it's not the same as the MP3 example....

Aye, but just because something is popular doesn't mean its the best. I think that ipods sound quality is pretty crappy... Same old apple, looks over substance.

Yea, the market increase is massive in a very short time. Upto 9% Apple is at 24% (feb), now with the Sony X10 and HTC Desire, legend, mini, nexus one and a few other cheap and highly spec'd phones are now available I forsee that 9% getting very large indeed.

How's the Desire? Wife's got one on order, should be here...well, today actually. I've got an older Vodafone HTC Magic, still on Android 1.6 haha.

To quote McDonalds "Im Loving it"! Takes a couple of hours to find everything (watching youtube helps) but then if you know 1.6 it cant be that different to 2.1. fast and with a beautiful screen.

Ah but you have the SenseUI right? So I expect it will be quite different...although hopefully elements will be the same. Mine's up for renewal around October time so there's a bit of time left for new Android phones before then :D

Yea, by that time the app store should be much more substantial too. I think android is starting to really take off. I think Apple is scared, they are suing HTC and I think they are trying to just get at android and Google.
