I know this sounds nuts but I can't seem to find a triumph forum in the UK that's anything like as busy as this one. Thinking about a sprint st for next bike and want to read up on it..

As per what Andy has said, to be honest, they don't exist. The only forum which gets a reasonable amount of traffic is the D675 one. All the others, such as Triumphrat seem to take two weeks for a reply.
But, again as per what Andy has said, there are now a number of Sprint owners on here. Post a question, sure they will help.

Cool, will consider it a lost cause then :) Takes me about 6 months (!) to buy anything big, just wanted to get an overall feel for the bike etc

Newer one, although they are quite pricy still atm. Looking for something faster than SV but more comfortable (and still ok to insure).

don't overlook the older version, they have the triumph real world build quality and weather well so plenty around in very good condition still, 118bhp and tops out just over 155mph (as apposed to the newer model which is 125bhp/160mph), and insurance group lower at 14 than the new one and weather well so still a very competent bike, if you do look try to find a post 03 version (run from 02-04) as they have the clutch upgrade which isn't a deal breaker, but nicer.
Another consideration is the Sprint RS (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=161965&id=621884134&l=ff898cd349) of the same vintage, the most cost effective way into the big bike triumph club, as I discribed it recently the equivalent of the SV, but bigger and better (actually the engine is pretty much an SV and a half).
Cheers Mark.

T 595 Net is where you want to be. Unless you are going for style[1050] the 955i is better on fuel and more comfortable as it is more touring orientated than sport. When you compare the performance difference it is negligible just that you will spend about £2000 more for a 1050 on an 05 plate as against an 04 955i.
A bit like pointy and curvy SVs looks wise
Having said that it is your own personal preference

Not as good as here but not bad.
I went from a sv1000 to a 2009 Sprint last year. Bloody love it, engine feels bullet proof, pulls like a train at any revs and sounds awesome.
On the sv1000 my 4rse and wrists were killing me after about 150 miles - a whole day in the saddle used to leave me in agony.
With the sprint, I can ride all day and still feel 'fresh as a daisy'.
A great bike, get a test ride on one and make sure you get the chance to give it some beans

Great to hear that matt.. I've been drooling over Sprint STs for some time now as the sv doesn't quite cut it for 2 up and the position isn't that great for more than 1-200 miles..
BUT, as alternatives to the Sprint ST, there's the ducatis (ST4S and ST3) and the aprilias (falco and tuono) which cut it real close to the sprint, you can find 'em for lower prices, but are really far in availability (and I like the way the sprint looks more than these, plus it's so much easier to get an abs version)
Anyway, I saw a thread not too long ago with a shout out to all the triumph owners on the forum and there were quite a lot of answers, many of them owning sprints, so you might just as well ask questions about them here, I guess

Have to agree with Mattsv, took one out for a test ride a week later my SV was in for a part ex.
Comfy, economical, deceptivley fast.
Would recommend one to anyone, swapped bikes with an older GSXR the other night. Never thought id say a 600 felt slow, the 1050 pulls from 2500rpm strongly and then steps up a level around 7K. My mate didn't want to get back on his after a few miles on the sprint, and the cheeky bugger had my heated grips on.
Also 07 onwards have higher bars and a few other tweaks

Don't rule out the Tiger either.
Very comfy, same engines, same build quality, more upright position, which may help two up.

Some of those tweaks are quite important actually. There's the headlights being fixed, as I heard they were cr*p before plus they worked a little bit more on the insulation of the exhaust & engine so that after 2007 they don't slowly cook the pillion and the right leg..

Same price as well actually. I guess it's a matter of style though (I still prefer the sprint just for the dual short beam headlights :D ), but the tiger looks mean as hell too.. Hmmm.. tough choice there

To be honest, the headlights are still a bit carp. Projector lenses look really cool, however they are positioned so far back in the housing that you lose a lot - the range is not brilliant, and using them at night when cranked right over is like just shutting your eyes
However, uprated bulbs improve things, and HID takes it one step further - not perfect, but a lot better.
Two up, with panniers and t*pbox, it can still keep up with most bikes/riders, although the rear suspension does make the rear dig in a bit if you try and cane it out of the corners too much.
I used to hate two up riding on my 650/1000, which was a bummer as my other half loves coming out on the back with me - this year, we will be doing Scotland (GM3), Wales (AR10) and two weeks in France
A picture of mine before I sorted the cans:-

New Sprint GT comes out in Sept-ABS Touring screen, exhaust back down to side mount, three piece hard luggage, heated grips and all the little odds and sods are allegedly sorted.
The Sprint 1050 will be a no frills bike for the enthusiast without all the add ons.
