Dizzyblonde will be sooo proud! Kwak however, will claim you have made a good start and that more effort is needed!

I always claimed the crud on my downpipe was a protective cover! Couldn't be ar$ed polishing it really...

Nah, not happy with it yet, still a good bit of crud on it. I'm a bit of a perfectionist....

Looks great MBK.... what did you use to clean it?

Milky Bar Kid
22-04-10, 04:42 PM
Autosol, brillo pad, soft cloth and LOADS of elbow grease and swear words...

Speedy Claire
22-04-10, 04:52 PM
Well it looks well worth all that effort... think i`d better get myself some of that elbow grease for after the weekend.. where can I buy some?

for the next time just a tip, get some 800 grit paper realy go over the exhaust (takes a lot less time that a brillo pad) then some 1500 paper quick go over and then get some fine wire wool to polish it up shouldn't take long quick polish with autosol just a quick going over

will take you about 20min to do the front down pipe and about 15 to do the middle section

or do what i do now and use a polishing wheel lol

I think there's a small place in Ruthin that has it, bribery is often the way to pay!

Yeah, Dizzy has already recommended that to me. I think I shall purchase some tomorrow. Took me ages to do that and there is still quite a bit of crud on it.

cool then post more pics up :D

its amazing what shine you can get with sand paper

dizzyblonde
22-04-10, 07:44 PM
NOT SANDPAPER....WET N DRY PAPER!!!!

and go to 1200, not 1500, smoother finish ;-)

Milky Bar Kid
22-04-10, 07:58 PM
Yes boss....

Lozzo

Very good, all you need to do now is square up and flatten off the panels to make it look a bit pointier and you'll be half way there.

Umm, 1500 is a finer grade than 1200, so should theoretically give a smoother and shinier finish.

Wideboy

280 sand paper to take off the crap, 800 wet and dry, 1200 wet and dry then autosol and buff off

Dicky Ticker
22-04-10, 09:32 PM
Drill and soft buffer will finish it off nicely-------Then start on the back one;)

yup duuhhh. Pregnancy moment, thats my excuse;)

As for DT and his drill.....never let a blond burd with a drill near your bike:smt018, even if it has a nice soft buffy thing on the end....the drill will stop and the bike will be going round and round instead:o

It was a rubbish day today, the first pic was taken a while back. And Ed, whilst I may not be particularly skilled yet, I can actually ride it..

23-04-10, 01:24 AM
Looks good!

I find if you spend only a few moments cleaning it after each ride (appox 200 miles for me) it's really not that much work to keep it looking that way.

An old bike restorer put me onto Cif, the kitchen cleaning stuff. Works a treat.

Looks good MBK :) did you do it yourself. How long did it take to saw the pipe?

Milky Bar Kid
24-04-10, 04:09 PM
Geo, no my mate helped me and we had an angle grinder thingy. I took the weight of the bike and he did the cutting. Didn't take us long, an hour or so and it was all done.

Geodude

Good stuff Nic, the Scorpion has a nice burble to it, although mine is err slightly smaller :-)
You'll find that DB screen nice and handy to hide behind stops your head banging about when you go faster.
In fact thats the same screen as on my black one, just lighter tint.

Milky Bar Kid
24-04-10, 06:22 PM
Woo! I got DB's approval on me bike!! Yay!!!

I am loving the sound of the can, I just went out in my slippers there and started it...just to hear it again!

dizzyblonde
24-04-10, 06:35 PM
lol baffle in or out Nic?
See mine is baffle out, and is reallllly quiet on tickover, and still very much so when running at low revs, or bimbling, but when you pull on the beans whoever is behind you gets woken up rudely, as it don't half go from tiny voice to great big

BWOOOOOOOOAAAARGHHHHHHHH :-)

As for the other one, well thats just loud and louder, no inbetween!

Milky Bar Kid
24-04-10, 08:04 PM
Baffle out. It's muchos nice. My mate was laughing at me after we got it on and he fired her up and apparently the grin just spread right across my face! I know have the modding bug....

Been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt..:p:p
That's one of a hell clean unmolested curvy MBK. Keep it it that way - selling it on will be a whole load easier....

Best exhausts are arrow. My SRAD sounded like it was shaking the very walls of hell.
M4 is also good, akra system on SV sounds a bit flat unless it's got a stupidly short can on it.
Micron is good sound, light, but bad for torque.

Scorpion cans are obviously the best because I have one...

And on the second point, you call me lazy! Shame on you Anna! What's your answer to a dirty bike? Hit it on the head with a hammer?? LOL!:smt036

10 years you say? I reckon it'd look like the first picture after a couple of months if you didn't clean it again. Once started you'll be forever doing it. Best left alone. :)

If anyone would like to partake in a conversation with our Scottish contingent you may want to read up on dialect before starting, I can heartily recommend 'The Broons' and 'Oor Wullie' as a good starting point
