I've somehow managed to put a bump in the rim of the front wheel :smt102

Has anyone had one fixed? I'm worried that the powdercoating will crack if the dent is repaired. Might weaken it as well

That from a pothole?

Guess it must be. Don't know how it got there. Just noticed it when I took the wheel off to get a new tyre

I would be worried about riding on it.

Does it not leak air, or give a crap seal on the tyre?

No it's completely air tight. It hasn't affected the bead

I've rode at least 500 miles with it like that if not more

You sure it wasn't caused whilst fitting the tyre?

Yes. You could see on the old tyre where it had rubbed against the rim

Too far away but cheers

You'd struggle to put that much force on with tyre levers without snapping the bead.
TBH I'm more worried that you're more concerned about the powdercoating than the integrity of the wheel :-P

should be possible to repair that though, motoliner are probably best bet.

Yarp +1 for Motoliner. I rode there with a dented front wheel (and prior-booked appointment) and they had it finished and back on the bike within 3 hours. It may be fairly expensive to ship it there and back but it'll probably work out cheaper than getting another front wheel.

It doesn't actually seem to be causing a problem though.

Do you remember roughly how much it was to fix spike?

I think it's cost me something like £55 to Have motoliner fix a wheel in a similar condition. Mine was worse though, so I'm optimistic the wheel can be straightened.

The force needed to do this will almost certainly do for the powder coating. However, I would personally repair the wheel (in fact that's exactly waht i did). Wheels are a structural part of the motorbike, so I think perhaps having them straight is worth the hassle.

I've used them from sunny Glasgow! Just get a local garage to take the tyre off for you and post the wheel to them. Then when you get it back, get a garage to put the rubber back on and re-fit the wheel yourself. If you wanted to you could get someone to check the wheel alignment afterwards.

Obviously contact them first to get a rough quote, and make sure they're expecting it!

They do a quality job, wheel looks really good when you get it back.

There is also a bloke in Renfrew that does it, but he's not as good. Although he is cheaper...

Motoliner is your best bet for a good result.

I paid £100, but I rode the bike in and out so they charged labour on getting the wheel out, tyre off etc. Check out the website, www.motoliner.co.uk . It'll cost you £55 if you send the wheel in.
