See here http://www.freecycle.org/group/uk

Anyone on here use it? I've just joined up as it seems a great way of getting rid of stuff that could be put to good use. Some weird stuff on there though, even pets

Yep! Love it. Have got rid of stuff and gained stuff through it. Great to to save throwing random things away that can be reused.

Apparently some people use it to pick up stuff then flog it on ebay!

Isn't there another one called Freegle or summat?

I used to subscribe to the email service our local group sent out, but got fed up with the amount of wanted ads people post, so packed it in. I sometimes post a message if I have something someone may need, but can't be bothered with the regular terminal scroungers that frequent it.

Yeah amazes me how many people put daft wanted posts up. Who the heck's going to just give away a caravan or camper van?

Some daft stupid mare asked for a Lamborghini owner to go round her house and take her 5 year old son for a drive.

Should ask for a Robin Reliant, she's get more peace and quiet then!

I use it although I'm the same as Lozzo, I get really fed up with the wanted ads of late.

When I request stuff, I'm always polite with my requests, and I always state I'm not going to flog the stuff on Ebay, which I don't.

I've got plenty of free stuff (Sky+ box, kids toys, computer stuff) but I've also given away stuff I don't need, which has been too good to throw away.

My local group has opted out of Freecycle and has joined Freegle instead, something about the politics of it...

Great way to pass on working but otherwise un-sellable stuff. Our old under-counter freezer was made redundant when we got a new chest freezer - I had twenty "yes please" mails within a couple of hours. Same for our old telly.

I tend to give stuff that's worth something to charity shops, but they cannot take electricals.

Its not as daft as you think. I know of a wanted add that was placed for a small capacity motorcycle and while no one had one for free it attracted a couple of "I could sale you one for £x". Unfortunately none of the offers of sale were what the advertiser was after...
