I think BP should divert this oil slick to South America.......That'll stop the Agentines moaning about the Falklands.

BP-------Bankrupt Petroleum
BP-------Bankrupt Petroleum
Cost of clean up £150m... Daily profits = £40m
I'm thinking unlikely.

They have a operating income of over $26 billion a year (almost could be classed as disposable income). I really doubt if everyone in America sued them they would go under...

Ha! I'd like to see Americans sue an oil company for damaging the environment. Pot calling the kettle black?

And they are British! How bliddy proud does that make you
But yeah, except for egg-on-face (of which there's little, they are doing their utmost to curtail this spill), BP will have little real fallout from this occurrence. Even if everyone in the US sued them they'd probably still come out with profit.
And yeah, I'd also guess they are lawyer'd and insured up to the hilt. God knows they can afford it.
Nah, it's just a drop in ocean.
No pun intended!

No, pun intended.
Couple of extra points, the CEO of BP is American and American law limits the liability of any company for a clean up such as this to $50 million.
I wouldnt worry about BP, they are one Slick operation! geddit?

And they are British!
Cue another round of Brit bashing... :smt021
...although I wouldn't mind betting that most of the personnel, technology and know-how at that rig was American.

Technology in the oil business is universal.
Personnel probably were Americans because...
Know how, well apparently there was none.

This event won't just affect BP, it will affect the industry as a whole...

They have agreed to pay over that though, according to the news a week or so ago.
3rd paragraph here:

Yeah it already has.
The company my mate works for is having to check their BOP, as they use the same one which blew out on this Transocean rig.
All the companies are worried this may happen to them, so hes rushed off his feet.
Transocean, are owned by Santafea Global I think, who were formerly Santafea.
They have a terrible reputation for safety, the joke was 'Santafea, kill one a day'.
US government is blaming BP, the owners of the well(I think) and are the operators, BP are blaming Transocean own the rig and more importantly the BOP, and Transocean are blaming Haliburton who are contractors on the rig.
Messy legal battle WILL follow!
