View Full Version : Hi and Help Please
Hey folks, me and my best mate are heading over to your fair isle for the NW200 this weekend, and then intend to spend the next week riding around.
We are camping, so just looking for advise on places to visit, roads that will leave us drooling, and of course any other recommendations.
Never been across and its our first time outside bonnie Scotland on the bikes so we're bouncing up and down with joy about this trip(even though it's all been planned last minute and on the back of a beer mat!).
Thanks in advance
Cumfy

Try this site. http://www.bikerroadtrip.com/
If you arrive in Belfast or Larne go up the Antrim coast road. Take your time if you can. There are loads of good roads. You'll find hundreds of people doing the same thing! I'll be up in the morning for the race. I live in Newtownards (10 miles east of Belfast) Where again we have some great roads. On a Sunday you'll find a lot of People in Newcastle or on the Antrim coast road.

Lets hope for a good day.

I would recommend Benone strand camp site. You'll find some campsites closer to the racing are a bit of a rip off. One of these days I must go camping for the NW200 myself! lol
Thanks for the tips padmane, got one of the "official" campsites for the weekend for £30 - friday- sunday, so sorted for the weekend, from Monday who knows where we'll end up, but then that's half the fun of it
Cheers

Be careful on the way to and from the racing, Police will be out in force and flooding all routes to the NW. They'll be coming down hard on anyone acting the ejit, so just ride sensibly.
Cheers for that SV650, will be taing it nice and easy anyway, having done 5 hours down to the ferry crossing, you can bet we will be cruising for getting to the camp site, plus we don't leave til the Monday and things might have calmed a little, then its relaxation time for the next 4 days exploring:D
Cheers

Not overly keen on the Antrim Coast Road tbh, loads of sunday drivers and weekend warrors riding like eejits, the road from Larne to Ballymena is a belter though.
Thanks for the tip bedhead, well last night I got all the packing done and the kit is already to be put on the bike, just a case of fuelling up tonight, doing another double check over the bike then wash down and when nice and sparkly, luggage on and have a nice early night.
Think we will be on the road by 6.30am, can't wait!
Cheers
Cheers for the tips abody. All packed and ready to go, just got to get up and make the 5/6 hr trip to the ferry now

Thanks for the offer Bluelion, we ended up taking quite a while heading down from the NW200, 3 days when we past Belfast, we were actually across from you in Strangford for a couple of days, but we'd missed oyur post and had no internet service, so thanks for the offer, we appreciate it, belatedly.
Had the most fantastic time over there and will definitely be going again, roll on 2011!
