Interesting and some of it could even be true, but I reckon they wont be able to resist extracting more money from road users in tax.One way or another the motorist is too easy a target for a government that will be desperate to raise money anywhere it can.

It says they won't give councils any more money for new speed cameras, they have to pay for them themselves.

So next time your tires wear out, do everyone a favour and throw one over a speed camera before setting it alight. :p

"While the Transport Secretary's comments are welcome, I am worried that cutting back on road expenditure will leave drivers facing more congestion and more potholes.

hmmmm as I see it, the money being spent at the moment is already contributing to this. Now if they made all them little cones disappear on unnecessary parts of the motorway, oh and got rid of all the little cameras, and men that build them there....that would decrease all those cars stuck in traffic limited to 50mph:p

So stop spending on these madcap ideas on the motorway and we can all be back on our merry way, and it will be a little bit greener than all them fumes and emissions concentrated there too!

I've no problem riding at 50 to keep workforce safe, when they're bloody there!!

Neither have I, everyone needs a job, its all the unecessary cones, and limits in place for miles and miles stretches that are clearly not being worked on. Now 50mph while the men in hi viz jackets is acceptable, like you say....when they are there!
