haha, heated grips are even better than Topboxes, no matter what ASH says.

Hah, I have both and use the topbox every day, the grips occasionally.

Quiff - great time to fit heated grips... just in time for those hot summer ride-outs ;)

I wanted the OEM ones on the Tiger, but at £135, I wasn't willing to pay! Saving up for Hotgrips.

You know what. I actually use my heated grips more in the spring and autumn than in the winter, and occasionally in the summer at night time.

The reason being that during spring and autumn, I'm riding in summer gloves, even though sometimes it's a bit too chilly for them. In the winter I tend to find my winter gloves are good enough for a lot of journeys so don't feel the need to switch the grips on unless on a journey longer than 1/2 hour where the cold works it way through the gloves.

In the summer if I have got carried away on mileage, and I'm not on my way home until after sundown, often it gets quite chilly in summer gloves, or on occasion if I can't sleep during the summer, I'll get up and go for a run on the bike while the roads are dead empty

The DR Bike ones are great for the money, they are just Oxford hot grips and the analogue controller is more adjustable and more reliable than the current Oxford one. I have a set for each bike both bought when they were on offer in J&S for 19.99. Anyone who buys the Oxford one's, simply because they think they will be better somehow, or because they want the name, is a fool with more money than sense IMO.

Quiff, did you wire them through a relay? If you've never had them before you're guaranteed to leave them on accidentally a few times and flatten your battery. The one problem with the analogue controller is that they are push the big chunky button to switch on and off, and you can switch them on accidentally by knocking the switch when getting on and off the bike, squeezing past the bike in the garage, etc. I had also had some a'hole decide to switch them on and flatten my battery whilst the bike was parked on the street. It was in a bike parking bay in London and I think I had taken somebody's usual space!

hee hee Mand said the same..

I never really thought about them before but I have done some hard decorating and landscaping for my parents and they paid me some dosh.. didnt want it but they insisted, so some is in the fund for scotland and after research I found the Dr Bike ones are oxford ones etc etc but only £24.99 as I live just 20 mins from J & S so.. off I went.. and half hour later.. on.. piece of pee to fit.

reason : last year on way up to GM ii me lil fingers got cold.. so if they stop that on the borrring slab this year then money well paid.. and of course if it gets hot I can not have them on.. the grips are thicker and I actually prefer the feel than that standard ones on me viffer. Might even leave em on fer 5 wen I get off so mand can warm her hands up ...

... before she goes to get me a brew.

Hi Ralph..

not relayed yet .. my other stuff. sat nav -phone. autocomm etc is all switched and seperate fuse just wanted fit em to see .. like them so will attack the switch live route later..

however I have got the unit tucked away and hidden so no one can turn it on when the bike is on left lock parked up .. yea may forget to turn it off . but got me and mandy to remember and if its on I shud remember cos when I stop me hands will be warm. I may for the interim put a small red dot next to my key barrell to remind me..

just waiting on mirror extenders,, baglux tank cover and bag now. and just got some brilliant touch up paint from www.bikecolours.com (http://www.bikecolours.com) brilliant .. reccomended..full 3 colour touch up for the candy effect..all in small brush bottles.

The other day it lashed it down , was supposed to be a warm day , after about 15 minutes I switched my grips on to keep my hands warm and to keep the grips a bit dryer . They are also a Godsend in the Summer as well when you are riding late at night on a Motorway after watching Metallica at Knebworth ...... kept the fingers amused whilst I rode home like a Dozy Wasp all the way back to Wales .

Quiff mate...

I'm beginning to get worried about you dude...

We're going to have to have a frank discussion at the AR about comfy touring seats and luggage options...

I am of the opinion now that screw what anybody thinks , if it makes your riding that much more enjoyable , then fit whatever you like . When a sportsbike rider takes the piddle then rides away with a stick on Mohican on their helmet you sometimes think to yourself "What a MASSIVE (large Male Chicken) that person is" .
