Dang .... we are having a bad year for the Deaths of Rock dudes from natural causes , always makes me wonder how some survive all the years of abuse from substances and others pass away from Illness . I mean , how the Hell are people like Iggy Pop still walking the Earth after all the stuff they have done ?

Only a couple of weeks ago there was talk of him being well enough to play some gigs with Heaven and Hell in the summer.

What a shame.

RIP Dio. One of the first concerts I went to was Dio at Astoria in London. Was an awesome show!

OG, why was I looking at this thread thinking Dio? and then think the only one I know is Ronnie James. and then clicked on the BBC link.

FFS where is my inspiration going. My first understanding of death was watching Churchill's funeral as a toddler, not understanding and the my grandfather again not understanding. By the time of Joplin and Hendrix I understood. Bolan hurt as he was at the time my inspiration (folly of youth) but Bonham seemed personal I had been at both weeks at Knebworth. I had by then had a few friends die on their bikes. One being the case that resulted in the ban on chin cups. (I bet Gus would still be alive if helmets were optional).

Since I left my teens, it has been friends and family that have been kissed by the reaper. Now suddenly the b'stard is at it again. Keep away from my life, inspiration, and memories you boney git or your scythe is going to meet a mountain of stone.

I only saw Dio in Rainbow, with Sabbath I was far too in tune with Ossy and sometime wished I could have got off this planet with him

Sad news, who'da thunk it Ozzy would outlive him? Brilliant singer, a shame for heaven and hell - who'll they get to fill his shoes? Ian Gillan?

A sad day indeed.

Widely, and unofficially, credited with inventing the horn finger rock salute.

Alot of his lyrics made no sense whatsoever but a legend nonetheless.
