The metcheck forecast isn't too bad for Saturday - just a little shower. Of course, even that might be too much for Mr Widepants. It sure is!

got the bike today so i'll get new tyres on zee way home

28-05-10, 09:54 AM
Well it's up to you lot, just checked the forecast on a couple of sites for CHippenham, tetbury and Devizes and they all say tomorrow is light rain and Sunday is clear

gruntygiggles
28-05-10, 10:00 AM
Well baby......tomorrow night in Gloucester is cancelled....Nic can't make it now, a few of the lads have dropped out and I'd rather stay home as the people I wanted to go and see won't be there. I've called and told them to make our tickets available to others as we won't be attending.

So....we could have an org BBQ tomorrow night, few beers, peeps can stay over if need be and then rideout Sunday

OR...

we could have a BBQ tonight for anyone that wants to as Ben is staying anyway and do the ride tomorrow, followed by another BBQ tomorrow now that I can do so much food for so little money ;-)

Be a nice break for those with a long trip home and I can get all the food ready tonight....doesn't exactly take long!

metalhead19
28-05-10, 10:04 AM
It's only a shower now, cept early morning where it pours down. I take it leathers are meant to get soaked?! Lol

Wideboy

gruntygiggles
28-05-10, 10:59 AM
Well, tomorrows detailed forecast says that the rain will be in the morning, clearing by the afternoon. We could start the ride later in the morning as all the first lot of roads have good visibility and are nice and open, no nasty bends, letting the other roads dry up for us.

Also.....if anyone wants to stay Saturday night....we have room for you and beds, so you're welcome and we could ride again Sunday :-)

Right then guys and gals....

Spoken to Stretchie and we will have an open house for the weekend. That means, there will be a BBQ tonight and tomorrow night and bed space available for anyone that wants to stay. We will do the rideout tomorrow....maybe start a little later and then possibly a ride out Sunday as well.

So.....names please if you want to stay and what nights and I'll PM you the address. :-)

_Stretchie_

Morning all.
Made it back ok, was dry all the way back thankfully but annoyingly. Alot of traffic on the M5 that slowed things down, got back around 7:45.
Dan and Cheryl thanks again for the hospitality today and +1 to wideboy, your house is awesome. :D

Alright guys.

Nice to see/meet you. Shame about the weather was an eventful day before we even started.

Would have logged on sooner but not been able to get on the org all day, perhaps servers probs??

As above - thanks GG and Stretchie for the hospitality. I only had 2 chips and a tablespoon of salsa. It was that Wyrdness. Youve got to watch him ;)

The rain was so hard on the way back I could hardly see where I was going. I think Wideboy slowed down to about 90 at one point as it as so treacherous.

Yeah.......whatever Scoobs. It couldn't have been you that ate about a pint of salsa anyway...you weren't here, we'll be seeing you next weekend ;-)

As for Gavin, well.......we all had a big, "WTF" moment when I had the text saying he was home. I'm guessing, white bike and motorway spray would mean the cops wouldn't have even seen him...lol

Had a really good time, despite being quite slow. Gutted I can't come today.

Also, there's nothing wrong with my socks!

metalhead19
30-05-10, 01:20 PM
There isnt anything wrong with being "slow" but considering the conditions i very much doubt any of us could be considered as riding slow.

...but socks and flip flops :smt120

BaP
30-05-10, 01:26 PM
It's a questionable look I agree, it was either flip flops or boots.

Glad you got home okay, M4 was bloody windy

metalhead19
30-05-10, 01:32 PM
I think..considering the rain, boots may have been the better option, plus you would have avoided the sock camel toe!
Yeah it was nuts, kept getting blown about in my lane, then turned onto the M5 straight into a head wind and a hell of alot of traffic!

BaP
30-05-10, 01:35 PM
Not done hardly anyway motorway driving so the sidewinds were a bit scary.

How long did it take you overall? You had to cover some serious milage.

Heh, point taken but I don't think you've seen the last...

metalhead19
30-05-10, 01:37 PM
I have done a fair bit of motorways and still dont like cross winds.....i dont mind so much if its a constant wind but the gusts i get really taken by. seems to affect me alot! And probs didnt help having panniers n tht on yesterday.

Erm, i got back into Plymouth around half 7, cant remember what time we left stretchie's, but i know the traffic really didnt help things.

cuffy

Cheers for the food and bed last night :D

Well that was fun wasn't it. Yes the weather altered our plans, but lets face it I planned to still have a job. Its just a case of making do; the ride, although shorter, was still good.

Hopefully we can do the full route again in a few weeks with some more biker friendly weather...

Cheers to the Strays for hospitality and Cuffy for his peg fixing ability's. And top marks to the markers. For some that was the first time on a marked ride or first time marking and all riders stepped up to challenge to get us all round safely be it slightly damp.
