It was decided by the Committee (thanks peeps ;)) to run the Buxton Chippy run once again. I am going to focus this one on more of an introduction to run outs for anybody that hasn't been on one yet.
It wont be too fast, or too long, the same as last year really, with some lovely views around Derbyshire & Staffordshire.
I am going to ride a route this weekend, probably changing the meeting place to Northwich, which is easier for people to get to than Sandbach.

So, set the date for Sunday 6th June, hope the weather is good & I will post up the route on Sunday

:):):)

I'll be tempted to invade your get together for some chip.

How come your planning Buxton as opposed to Matlock which is only a bit further but has better chips and more to see :p

With it being aimd at the newer riders to the forum... this area will be quieter i suppect and .... well that cant hurt on a newbie ride out i wouldnt think.

It will be a nice short ride of about 90 miles, like Dave says, nice easy bimble.
Last year most were home for about 2pm, so could spend a bit of time doing other things if need be.
We will be taking in Rudyard Lake, The Cat & Fiddle, Buxton & maybe J&S Accessories.
Mike, I was trying to be diplomatic lol.

Wow what an excellent suggestion! i`ll be there and it`d be a great opportunity for all the recent newcomers to the Border Patrol to meet everyone and get an idea of what a group rideout is like. As Col says there`s no pressure to go fast and keep up, you ride at a pace you`re comfortable with and nobody will be left on their own.

Did the recce today with Brettus (thanks for the company :)) Got lost on a couple of occasions & need to sort out another route past Macclesfield, there are too many roundabouts in too short a space. I will work on it & see what I come up with. Good to see a bloke with a death wish on the RC8 KTM up & down the Cat & Fiddle, jeez he was quick (sod the 50 mph limit eh mate?), but it only takes one wrong move
Found some really nice places & it was nice to end up in the midst of a Charity Motorcycle run through Leek & miss the flaming turning for Stoke. lol
Sorry Missus Brettus for keeping him out so long, wont happen again :)

Sign of a good ride out lol

Really good to get out and about today, thanks again Mister C for letting me tag along. Mrs Brettus wasn't bothered with the time we had been out, just that I had neglected to check in ;)
Was a good test ride, found some interesting new places, some to avoid :) some really good roads though, can't wait for the 6th now, hope the weather is half as good as it was today.

First time out with my camera for ages so can't resist posting them, not a spoiler for those attending, more a taster to whet the appetite!

admittedly the first two are from my iPhone.

I wanted to get this right in my head, so have done the route again today & found some better roads. Thanks to Uki for the input as well :) I didn't get lost once today, so that is encouraging.
I will post the full route up once Google decides to play ball with me (I have tried 4 times & it keeps crashing on me)
Lets hope the weather is kind to us on the 6th, I'm really looking forward to it now :)

Right, here we are. I have tried to miss as much of Macclesfield out as possible & have also found a really nice road from Jodrell Bank to Congleton. It has added a few miles onto the journey, but I think it will be worth it.
There will be 3 stops: Buxton, Rudyard Lake & Mow Cop, unless people want to stop at the Cat & Fiddle pub & I will do that as well.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=103922039572662704033.00048740c29bb2f116193&ll=53.187933,-2.210999&spn=0.234517,0.826035&t=h&z=11

As stated before, this wont be a fast rideout, some of the roads are a bit narrow to say the least, but I have also kept some A roads as well. I could do with somebody opting to be TEC to try & keep everyone together (something I forgot last year).
I am really hoping it's as good as last year & we get blessed with the weather.

So, if we meet at J & S Accessories in Northwich for, say, 9.30 - 10am on Sunday 6th June.

Route looks really good now Mister C, even managed to take in another body of water I see. Could almost do a reservoir tour in that area, didn't realise there were so many!

Unless someone more experienced wants to take over I'll go TEC. I don't mind a bimble and I like to enjoy the scenery.

My usual caveat though I'm afraid, if its persisting down I don't think I'll be along, have enough riding in the rain/sleet/snow due to necessity so I don't need to do it for pleasure.

Lets get a roster going for an idea of numbers:

J and S for those that dont know..

you need to turn down the one way street at the cross roads with the lights on.. wide main road is bisected by this smaller road - so that J and S is on your left then turn left in to J and s car park..

if you go on the the bigger car park at back its not j and s car park..

make sense?

Yeah I'd been checking that, was looking doubtful yesterday with 20-30mm of rain but its all but dissipated now. Awesome as I'd have been gutted to not go.
http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/tomorrow.asp?zipcode=congleton metcheck has a more detailed guesstimate, shows it being OK most of the day.

Looking forward, gonna give my bike some attention today so make sure its presentable for tomorrow. (or at the very least, noticable that its blue ;)) Must remember to clear my card for taking pics too, I think it will be quite a picturesque day.

ooh cool, look forward to seeing them, just been putting together my kit of camera goodies, taking my macro lens aswell just incase I see anything.
Takes a good portrait too. Even packing my tripod so I can look like the complete photo nerd ;) (wanna try some longer exposures)

Sorted my bike out, glad I'm last (and I don't have any epileptics behind me) my second set of indicators didn't have the resistor so its gonna be a bit blinky tomorrow. the seller is sending out some but won't be here till tuesday.

its now clean (by my standards at least)
has had the chain tensioned, cleaned and oiled,
tyre pressures checked and rectified.
oil checked, should be good to go for tomorrow.

I have had a major set back today & I'm hoping to get it rectified by the run. I have been for a run today & stopped at a pub for a drink. I came to start it & the battery is flat. I have just got back thanks to my race bike battery & help from my son.
I can feel the heat on the side panel where the regulator is, I have one, but off the newer model, so need to have a shufty at it. I am doing it in the morning as I've had a bit of a long day
I am hoping that it is this & I will see everybody in the morning.

it hammered it down in Biddulph in the early hours, still drizzly here

Im pulling out, sorry, but im still confidence building and wet greasy day is not what I need.

Take care round Staffs Moorlands, the contractors have been out getting the grass in, could be slippy

I'll try and get out on the next one.

If it dries out later then I may bimble about and see if I can catch you up

Sorry all, wont make this morning as I have been unwell overnight and won't risk riding have taken large amount of medication.

Have a good ride out and hope to meet up again in the very near future.

Looks as though the weather your way is closing in, here near Coventry is quite bright but overecast but with the threat of showers.

Sorry all JOHN

I'm gearing up, can't guarantee I'll make the entire course though as if it really is torrential then I'll be heading back homewards ;) looking forward to it though, fingers crossed the weather departs buxton area before we get there, its looking to be heading off to the east this afternoon

Hi, this is Karina, Gareth's wife. Does anyone know what happened to him? I've had a call from Macc hospital to say he came off and they think he has a broken shoulder?
I'm really worried, I can't get over to him as I don't drive so any info would be good.

Really sorry to hear that Karina, hope you get more information soon. Not much help but all I know is that he was heading back with Dave20046 after we all split for home at Mow Cop (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Mow+Cop&ll=53.112163,-2.209625&z=10).

Alex (Grey Rider) has just text me, he's home safe now. Has no internet connection so asked me to let you all know.
