View Full Version : Will I go to Weston again???? :-)

Just back from Weston...had a fab ride out.

It was Eventful:-

Someone came off, luckily ok :smt056

Someone nearly came off, but made a good save :smt120

Someone parked the bike they are borrowing off a mate into someone elses bike....on it's side! Luckily, the other bike survived and a few people together managed to pick up the biggest bike there :grouphug:

A few people managed to get pulled by the nicest copper in Wiltshire on the way back to Lacock, best quote when answering a policemans questions of " that was a bit fast wasn't it" was this reply, "Hmmm, it was a little enthusiastic" :-dd I have no idea who these three people might be that had to explain to the officer that all three bikes were registered in one persons name, but one might have changed and the other was being borrowed...oh and they didn't have the V5s as they've just moved!:-dd

All in all a fab evening. I managed to go too hot into a left hander and find my right leg flying up in the air...but had brilliant fun and loved the ring road on the way home.

Oh, not forgetting...I almost gave Stretchie a heart attack on the M5. A couple of miles after joining it, I realised my chinstrap had not popped in properly. Flashed Squirrel_Hunter as I pulled into hard shoulder to do it up.....Stretchie just looked in the mirror, couldn't see me and thought the worst :( But it was all fine ;)

Was fab to meet so many new people and put more names to faces....hope to see you all again soon xxxxx

We will be checking our footage tomorrow and looking out for your arrival, should have a pretty cool video for you all by the end of the weekend.

It was lovely to meet so many of you and I hope that I see you all again very soon.

Grunty Giggles, it was a real pleasure to meet you at last and I would love to go for a ride with you as soon as I can. :D
I promise to bring the big bike and not turn up on the CG again. ;-)

Jesus, when u put it like that it makes it sound like we had a well eventful ride home. Being over enthusiastic seems popular atm. XD

Well, Stretchie was up front, then me followed by Squirrel_Hunter. By a fair bit...more than you...lol :-dd

Hahahaha. The copper was a proper dude TON so no points or anything. He said that he could see we were ok and just having fun on the quieter roads (it was midnight), but to take it a bit easier. I think he knew he wasn't going to do anything before he pulled us, just wanted to give a little warning...lol.

Warning very gratefully recieved by us all :-)

Uh...yeah, won't be doing that again. I was actually thinking, "unlike Stretchie to do these speeds" then saw the blue lights and thought......"well, it's been nice for our 4 days together BB".

I think he could see we weren't nobs, he didn't even mention the speed we were doing or anything about letting us off, just told us to take it easy and calm it down a bit in case of drunk or idiot drivers.

gruntygiggles

It was all of us Lily.....in a very haphazard way...lol.

I just saw this and had a giggle....lets all laugh at Stretchie.......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Right then a couple of us are off to Weston Super Mud tonight as per Janey's thread. Just putting it up if you want to tag along, and just so you know it'll be a legal run but nothing to stop you shooting ahead if you know the route

LEAVING Westbound Leigh Delamere services 18:30 just after jct 17 (Chippenham) going westbound will be:

Me
GruntyGiggles
SquirrellHunter
AlanTheBoss???

And we are off to meet Stu (TheOnlyNemesis) and his cousin at thiers just off junction 1 of M32 near the Frenchay hospital for 19:00 and then going through Birstol down the A37 and then turning off to go through Burrington Coombe and Cheddar Gorge to get the Weston, so be aware that if we leave on time we won't get there until 20:30 - 21:00

Does the can have more holes in it than it should?

I think a few scratches make the bike look sexier

Surely now is the perfect time to get an aftermarket can then?
If your gna replace the current one, why not get something that sounds a lil meaner.

Reading post #1, I'm slightly aroused by the story about who came off, who almost came off, who rear ended whom, and how many people it took to get the big one up.

But then I'm easily aroused, it all started when I used to just "brush" past the charity collection statues you used to see...

Haha, no AA.....got the reg/rec changed this morning and hey presto...problem solved!

Went from Chippenham to Malmesbury, then out towards Avebury and then towards Devizes.....3 hours and was a fab ride. Got my toe down on a roundabout and so wish someone had taken a picture, but that'll do for me. After yesterday, I will keep the hard lean angles for roundabouts that I know with a surface I trust! Rest of the ride was good progress, but sensible. Loved it......was blo0dy hot though!

Yeah...having red hair and pale skin is not good when the sun comes out. I have to cover up...I have scars on my face because I got so badly burned once.

Toe down was not planned and scared the life out of me....now I know that lean angle, I will NOT be doing it on open roads....I will save that for roundabouts and I am not going to TRY and do it again.....I'll push it too far! We'd already done that roundabout once all the way around, I've done a fair bit the last couple of weeks and then the second time we did it today, we went round twice and the second time, I just kind of went a bit harder and then felt my foot on the floor and thought "insert expletive here".....then exited the roundabout and thought....I'm gonna get told off when I tell Stretchie that!

I do have to say I am very proud of my Grunty, and when she first said to me and Squirrell about how far she was leant over and what she's been doing on the bike and all that we both looked at each in that:

"Of course it FEELS like you've got the bike over to you because you're new too it, but you really haven't, but don't worry you'll get there"

Kind of way, but then I've been out with her and am seriously impressed, she really honestly does make progress and can shift it around and picks great lines.

At the same time, I am a bit worried, as unbelievable and GREAT as it is to see a new rider doing this she's only been on it for a week and I've been out with people that have been riding for 1-2 years and cannot command a bike as well or confidently as she has been.

She must have done well over 20k miles as a pillion and that has definitley had a big influence as she is used to the acceleration and lean (and more, pillion is higher up so the feeling of the bike getting dumped around corners is much more than being on the front) but overall I love you baby and am soo proud of you and you constantly amaze me with your awesomnicity

gruntygiggles

Someone is after something...lol. Oh yeah, new tyres...lol.

Baby...I worry me. I proper rained it back when out with Cuffy this afternoon because my leg going in the air yesterday made me re-evaluate what I am doing. Yes, I dipped it in more and stayed the right side of the lines and I knew nothing was coming, but I know I would be tempting fate to keep riding like that. I don't think I've been a nob or stupid, but I'm really comfortable on the bike and so I am riding that way....not accounting for the fact that I am yet t experience any really nasty wobbles or the back end stepping out, so I'm better off learning how to deal with that at more sedate speeds........I had a good talk about this with Dan earlier and feel better now.

As for the roundabouts I know though.....I think I'll be getting leathers and knee sliders sooner rather than later......hehehehe

The lass done great mate, was very impressed with her riding, gave me a run for my money through Brinkworth and the 50mph limit *cough cough, splutter splutter*
I'd say with her being pillion for so long it has definiteky helped as she knows about road positioning and t'ings. :D

Watch where you are putting your feet... Seriously, dont ride with your instep on the peg, shift a little and ride with the ball of your foot on the peg*. That way you lesson the likelyhood of some toe down action and it will give you a little more ground clearance that way. It also gives better feel for what the bike is doing to IMHO.

Yeah, I had her sat on her CBR when it was on the abba stand showing her about foot/knee/arm position the other day, I didn't tell her at the time why I was showing her but I could see when I went out with her that it really wouldn't be long until she'd need to address that.

No nasty wobbles yet? Blimey I had one the first time I took the ancient CG out, the brakes were rubbish  I've had a few wobbles and now an off, learnt from every mistake. I tend to just accelerate out of wobbles, works a treat...I did it more in the beginning, doesn't happen much now, things are improving greatly.

Have to agree with what people have said about all those pillion miles. I gained my confidence so much more quickly having previously experienced lean angles etc. Done 500 miles or so now in 3 weeks or less, just loving it!

Well done on your first rideout GG, amazing. I'm staying clear of those for a while, I can ride with one or 2 people but any more and I think I'd get too worried about people watching me **** up lol.

Keep up the ace riding my dear :-D
