View Full Version : Ashes to ashes series finale
So, who will be watching to find out if
a) it's not real, it's all in Alex head
b) it's not real, it's all in Genes head
c) it's not real, it's all in Sams head
d) it's not real, it's just a television programme
Tbh, I don't watch much telly and I especially don't subscribe to fictional nonscence as I believe that sitting around watching made up rubbish is time wasted and I could be doing something more productive, but I have been drawn in to watching these three series, and the two series of life on mars.
I know in the great scheme of things it is all just a load of flanel, but I can't help but think about how things are going to pan out.
I don't care so long as we get to see Keely running around in stockings again ;-)

Oh yeah, she's lovely :smt120
Has got a bit confusing this series, im not keen on all this back in time while under a coma crap, they should have just made an 80's cop show, i would have still liked it but without all the weird stuff.

Aye, but they made them back in the erm. . . 80ies :).
Think the whole point of the show is to make you think wtf is going on here then.

I know, i watched them then as well ;)
Id watch keeley paint, play cricket, sit still reading a book , pretty much anything cos she is the perfect woman, excluding the wife obviously, especially as she is contributing to my new bike purchase :)

Good girl, begs the question though, what is she after ;)

I'll be sad to wave goodbye to the Gene Genie, he's pretty freakin' awesome. Him and his Quattro.
I'm actually more interested in Keate's reasons for hating Gene. And why he let Viv die in the prison etc.

Well, its partly for my 40th which is in october and i spent £450 on her last weekend buying her some jimmy choos shoes and matching clutch type bag ;)
Buy a woman shoes, she will agree to anything ;)

You got off lightly then, my bike will be costing me for at least eighteen years :smt120

Bit weird, that scumbag was the devil, hence the hatred for gene.
Bit over the top imo, trying to do a 6th sense but failed .
One saving grace, Keeley, nuff said.

As Specialone said. That speccy dude was a devil sort.
So I was right, they were all dead.
BUT they all had bodies, but Gene Hunt didn't. He was a lost soul, who was yet to be found under the scarecrow. He looked after all those who were kind of hanging about.
Think that explains it.

Certainly an interesting way to end the series. I liked a bit of the full-circle effect, with a newbie coming into Fenchurch East, just the same as Sam did and Gene delivering the exact same line as he did in the first ever episode.
Nice to see Nelson too.
Basically, as I see it:
Jim = Devil (tempting everyone, especially Ray with the blonde)
Gene = A soul battling against said Devil
Everyone else = lost souls

me finks he was a good shepherd.....ahhhhh :-)

Aye that is pretty much how I thought it would end.
Had sussed Keats worked for the devil, and Nelson was some kind of gate keeper.
The one thing that puzzled me though, was how Gene had aged from his death, but none of the others had.
Well, they can't make any more, "fire up the 190D" wouldn't have quite the same ring to it.
It was a good ending to a good program, but it brings up so many questions.
"You killed my car, you dyke-digging tosspot!!" BANG BANG!!

I only started watching it a few weeks ago. I sky+ it last night and just watched the last episode.
I think I just about have it all sussed out, but may have to watch it again just to make sure. Throughly enjoyed it though

Did you twig the significance of the old Dixon of Dock green footage at the end?
(Clue - it wasn't actually dixon of dock green)

From what I have read, it is to do with the film The Blue Lamp, in which Dixon is killed. This film was aired before the television series Dixon of dock green was made, hence the clip at the end of ashes to ashes.

He was killed as a young copper. He later returned older, and as a sergeant.
