it just looked a bit misty which I thought for a second was a bit odd on a sunny day then hit all the dam green flies, there must have been millions of them, bike, leathers, helmet all covered.
could not see anything out of the visor, lucky no one was behind me so I slowed down sharpish, think I went into the other lane but could not really tell as I could not see. So just keep an eye out for green flies, speed + not being able to see aint a good thing

Wow just wow...

on the positive side atleast you killed half the population of them, less for the rest of us to worry about.

Edit: looking at it for to long makes you feel sick

Wow,

Lucky it wasn't hover flies, there was a big outbreak of them a few years ago, everything turned yellow when you hit them:(

I know I've accidently rubbed my visor for a few that have splattered, and smeared them apart from a small gap(never do that again)

I ride around with my visor open most of the time. That would have been extremely bad news.

I've had similar scary moments going into shady bits under trees that were hiding swarms of the buggers. The temptation is always a little wipe of the finger isn't it?

However, well done there mate! :p
That's an impressive attempt at genocide.

Just imagine what the Scottish midgies have in store this year....!!!!!!!

The rumour is that midges will be somewhat reduced in number this season due to the frequent cold spells this year running right up til about a fortnight ago.

21C today here though so hoping we're lucky for GM3! :D

You wait 'til you have your visor open, and one flies straight into the gap between your temple and you helmet lining at gets stuck there face first. Ar$e sticking out and desperately writhing around trying to find something to sting. Luckily the one that did it to me only found my helmet lining and tried to sting the hell out of that. Multiple stings to the temple wouldn't have been pleasant. I've never been so quick in pulling an emergency stop, killing the ignition 'cos it was quicker than finding neutral, and taking my off helmet.

If something is just flying around inside the helmet, open the visor full and turn your head through 90 degrees. The windblast will get rid of it.

I keep all my biking gear in the garage, with the helmet on a shelf. What's really annoying is when you put your helmet on, then a couple of 100 yds down the road, the spider that was sleeping in there crawls into your ear!

happened on a run to whitby the other day, warm weathers done it, that and the cold winters meant there's not too many ladybirds abouts....
just make sure you don't try to wipe them off with a glove, cos it just smears even worse....
think i'm gonna ride round my allotment at speed to clear them off my plants! :smt071

Scary thought, we have been hit by an influx of these where I work, I only walked up one road the other day and couldn't breathe, needed a dust mask due the millions of the feckers. ended up with a sleeve over my face like an extra in Backdraft !

Makes me wonder, how do you slow for a horde of these at speed when I was almost eating them at walking pace and still barely visable ?

Jeez

Unless you ride at a crawl everywhere, I dont think you can!

Get those motox style rip off visor strips :)
