Tesco store in washwood heath, brum about 3-4 miles away from me, have re-painted the white parking zone blue cos it was felt to be insensitive to local residents (predominatly asian now).
WTF is going on in our country?
The story was printed in our local free gazette and tesco hadnt issued a statement at time of print but verbally have admitted it to a local estate agent, who wrote to the gazette originally.
I didnt get this from the daily mail either.

Bet gargamel's distraught.
awful joke I know
I'd take it with a pinch of salt until tesco comments, but perhaps it's part of their gameplan for world domination (we have 10+ stores in sheffield now). And they must be doing well off their customers if they can blow money on crap like that - maybe worth giving asda a visit.

One of the local supermarkets other year whinged on the PA about England flags on peoples cars being offensive.
About half the folk in there dropped their shopping wherever they were and walked out, which was nice.

Cool, respect to them.
What really boils my carrotts is most of the time its not the ethnic minorities that complain, its the dudley do right whites.

I don`t get it, why would it matter what colour the parking is ?

Exactly, why change it though ?
If it had been blue from the start, nobody would have cared, apart from blue people ;)

The greens wouldn't appreciate the blue for fear of the danger to the environment.
Well you wouldn't see black lines, it wouldn't show up on the tarmac:lol:
And if they painted them yellow to keep the Chinese happy then everyone would get a ticket:p
So they need to paint em red, it would keep the Indians on side;)
And have a completely unpainted zone for the French and Italians:cool:

When I ran an IT service desk in a call centre in Aston, I had to sack an Asian employee who had been making sexual suggestions to female customers over the phone. He pulled the race card and said I was discriminating against him because of his race. I asked him to turn around and look at all the call centre employees through the glass wall of the office, and ask him why the rest of the agents were not in the office being disciplined, and who exactly was he being treated differently to, as the majority were either Black or Asian.
Tesco's should be painting all parking areas white and giving them numbers instead, to ensure that they do not offend the minority race in Birmingham, namely white people!

If it was black, it wouldn't show up very well. Could have Rainbow lines, but that would be a tad pricey. Pretty though!
Sorry, am I allowed to say black, or white? Or must I say reflective or non-reflective of the entire visible spectrum?

I'm not sexist, but male and female connectors are an unnecessary innuendo and offensive to female mechanics in this day and age. I demand they are re-named.

what a load of sh1te.
companies started using blue lines a long time ago to differentiate between a normal parking space and a disabled space.as in blue badge holders space, this is the kind of stuff that stirs 5hit up in the same reactionary was as XXX bans England shirts !!!
i doubt theres an ethnic person on teh planet would be offended by "white" lines

I doubt there was an ethnic person involved in the decision to repaint the car park, otherwise he/she would have told their colleagues not to be so stupid. All it actually does is stick it in the face of coloured people even more, because all of the decision makers were obviously white, and felt the need to make some kind of change due to the presence of coloured people, who are obviously all too thick to realise that the colour wasn't chosen just to spite them. If I was a coloured person I'd see it as an insult to my intelligence, I know that white lines are usually used on tarmac, drain pipes are often black, and "chalk boards" have always been called blackboards 'cos they are black, not because somebody want's to be racist.

Proves my premise that a spade is a spade and left wing do gooder idiots need kicking in the c**t.
YC - even though I know you're a bit opinionated and are not afraid to speak your mind and are really nice face to face, think that's an overly harsh comment. No-one deserves kicking anywhere, just for having an opinion

People can have all the opinion they want... but when they start using "Ooooh you might offend a disabled black lesbian by selling pork chops on a Tuesday" to impose their own silly little rules on people then they fully deserve kicking and worse!
Mmmmmm well not in my book ( the kicking and worse bit), but there ya go! ;)

Ok a firm talking to by members of whatever "minority" which "might be offended" and a removal from any position with the remotest sniff of power!
We have lots of head doctors in this country... fact that your store manager or whatever is ginger or did not get enough attention from his Ma or whatever is HIS problem not every customer of tesco!

Not just for having a ridiculous opinion, no. Fairly harmless. But for acting on that opinion in any way whatsoever, including making daft decisions, then yeah some people deserve a good kicking.
IMHO. Don't kick me.

See that is implying that the store manager of a tescos branch with absolutely no future, a gerbil called steve and no mates (might even be ginger!) who is on a power trip might have some balls. Which is unlikely...

Hehehe, I'll play the "I'm not a racist but..." card
I'm not a racist but... the following will definetly preceed accusations that I am.
I believe in a open and welcoming community, I belive that everything should please the majority.
So the minorities should just STFU an deal with things the way they are.
(Note: I'm very aware it will have been the gibbons at the board room table who decided to make this and many similar changes, but all they achive by doing it is producing discussion like this which further increases the divide).
yorkie_chris
26-05-10, 08:30 AM
There's a fine balance to be struck, you wouldn't tell disabled people to STFU and deal with the stairs... :-P
But then again I doubt any ethnics ever gave a flying f*ck about the colour of the lines in the car park!
