A while ago I posted asking who, if anyone, was on Twitter. There were a few responses but it seems to have gained traction with a lot mre people now not just geeks. So, if you want it to be known, just like a ride out list, copy the above list and add your twitter name so that the last post should contain a definitive list rather than trying to filter out usernames from chatter.

I use twitter passively, mainly for reading. I get news and information from lots of different people from
MotoGP mechanics, Rossi's Alex Briggs is on there which I find interesting
Manufacturers scottoiler etc
EV enthusiasts
bargain alerts, I'm a sucker for a bargain ;)
Work colleagues for a laugh both in and out of work.
Bands for tour announcements, bonus material and other interesting bits.
Band members for a little inside information, yes OK I am forced to admit it is like heat magazine culture but I quite like listening to what some people have to say, not what some journalist wanted them to say or thinks he heard them say.
Not to mention family on there which is quite nice.

Each to their own though, some people use it differently, some don't use it at all. It's not a necessity but I like it as it also transfers well to mobile devices so I can have some interesting stuff to read if I would like.

Did try Twitter once, but couldn't really see the point in it, so stick to Facebook, which, in it's own way wastes one's time quite admirably :)

Its also good for things like F1 if you are being dragged round a shopping centre on a sunday missing the race. Its does have its uses

no, you can use any kind of computer as it works on a webpage www.twitter.com or you can have a windows client like tweetdeck or seesmic to run a small app for updates. you can use it on any smartish phone, basically anything that can browse the web but I do believe there is some text message integration too so it can suit older phones but if you don't have a smart phone then you are unlikely to want to do things on the move anyway.
It all depends on how you want to access it.

Sorry - I'll stop derailing now. I get a little amused and wound up in equal measure when I see people incapable of putting their phone down. It's a compulsive disease when you have to look at a screen and be digesting some kind of data 24/7 these days. Like I said, life is too short, especially if most of your life is delivered to you from a small screen a few inches from your face...
