Whole thing does make me laugh. For life of me I can't see why people care so much about football.

So grown men without the mental faculties to understand concepts as simple as springs in compression and fluid pressure cry when a ball bounces the wrong way down a field? Makes sense I suppose.

Don't bother yourself why they care so much about it, just be grateful that the roads will be clear when its on. Even the Rozzers will be busy elsewhere :p

Guy at work got a strange look the other day when he turned up in his SNP shirt.

Until we realised it stood for Scotland not playing

If Wales or Scotland (or NI) were in the World Cup and England weren't, d'you think there'd be Saltaires or Red Dragons plastered on every available surface throughout England?

What a nasty piece of jealousy.

I consider Scotland, Wales, Ireland and N Ireland to be the 'Home Nations', (in no particular order), whenever there is a international competition clearly I'm first an England supporter but also like to see the above nations do well and will always support them when they play.

I pity those whose petty jealousies can come up with not just not supporting your neighbours but actively campaigning against them.

Sad.

And you spend your money on it? They saw your petty predjudices coming - and mugged you.

My grip is fine thanks, I can imagine the people who make the shirts laughing heartily.

'tis a bit on the tedious side, very similar to how the likes of Everton fans behave towards their larger, more successful neighbours and it all seems a bit, well, small time to me really...

dont get me wrong i would love to see England win the world cup again if it were not for the fact that we would never hear the friggin end of it. 44 years yes thats right 44 friggin years and they still gloat about it every time they qualify for the world cup. if it were scotland, wales or NI that won all those years ago do you think that it would get so much media attention, i think not but because its england it gets rammed down everyones throat every time england qualify.

''I'm really not interested in what the other "home" nations do, as far as I'm concerned, devolve the bloody lot of them...'' errrmmm some of us are thanks :smt103

and for the record i friggin hate football

Bibio

When I lived in Scotland I never quite understood what ABE was all about. Yes, to some people is just merely banter, however it does disguise a lot bad feeling under the pretence of "banter". Get a grip everyone, it is just a game and open your minds a bit.

Philbo
14-06-10, 07:49 PM
Vast majority of it is banter. All of England would hate France even more if you had to hear about how wonderful they were all the time through a shared media. That's where 99% of all this comes from.

I've got plenty of English friends, and even a wee tiny bit of English blood...(don't tell anyone though!)

Do you think any European nation would support there immediate neighbour? They don't, and wouldn't.

And just for the record, yes, we are jealous! :p
