i thought i used mine quite alot, but for things like twitter and occasional web pages, and ive only used 992mb in 10months lol so im not too worried
yip i agree, i thought i was a heavy user online, out of 2 years i've had my iphone, ive only ever went over 100,000kb 3 times, and the highest ive went is 300,000kb. the new limit would be 500,000(ish) kb! i use a lot of facebook and email and surfing the net on my phone!
o2 have said that this would prob only effect about 5% of there users!

Doesn't surprise me data is expensive.
Glad mine's still free though...
Doesn't surprise me data is expensive.
Data is free. It's the infrastructure to transmit it that's expensive. Once that's in place, they can send all the data they want over it. Costs the same.
Glad I swopped to Orange on a 1200 minute/unlimited texts/unlimited data contract last year.
O2 royally hacked me off last year when they lied about sending me a new phone and when I found out they wouldn't have stock of them for another two months I told them to shove it. Best thing I ever did with regard to mobiles.

.
it says orange are doing the same, although I've only received 804mb of date since getting my phone in December.

O2 have made it clear that 97 per cent of their customers use less than 500Mb. I consider myself a fairly heavy user and my peak is 390Mb.
I don't understand why the media is focussing on this non-story that will affect only 3 percent of O2 customers. What about the fact that they've halved the talktime?
My 18 month contract with O2 currently costs £35 for 600 minutes. Under O2's new tariffs, for the same price and contract length I will only get 300 minutes. Also, MMS messages will no longer come out of users' bundled texts, but will be charged at 20p each.
This is a clear lesson in how to make existing, loyal customers feel as though they're being shafted.

O2 don't give a crap about customer service or their customers. I'd been a customer for six years and (without going into the lengthy story) they in short order p***ed me off so utterly that I left them.

Oh poo. I see they are blaming iPhone owners for slurping all the bandwidth - sounds about right for the swishy fingered followers of tasteless fashion

At least they're getting rid of that 'unlimited' tag. They're capped the cloud wifi at 500mb too for some reason.

Check the contract lengths.

Couldn't give a monkeys about internet TBH.
I was with TMobile for years and years, but the network signal got worse and worse. Pegs with 02 and was the only person on the Essex lounge trip to get a signal on Skye. A couple of weeks ago, TMobile went down for 8 hrs here and I couldn't use the phone at all, which is worse that sitting on the sofa at one end then moving slightly and getting cut off...so I just signed up with 02.
Its worth it just to be able to talk to someone within these four walls now, and I can get a signal at work too, which is a miracle in itself.
Theres always something for someone to moan about whatever network you are with I suppose.

From the O2 website: "Unlimited UK Wi-Fi"
Check the contract lengths.
I did; that's where my information came from.

Network to follow O2 in doing away with unlimited tariffs
Orange is poised to scrap unlimited data plans from this summer, Mobile understands.
The network is one of a number of operators expected to follow suit after O2 announced today that it would drop unlimited data for new and upgrading customers when the iPhone 4 launches on 24 June.
Industry commentators had predicted that operators would no longer be able to sustain ‘unlimited’ models as the strain on the networks increased.
CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood told Mobile following O2’s announcement today: ‘No operator can afford to have 3% of their smartphone users consuming 36% of data resources.
’It's going to be interesting to see how O2's competitors react to this. Now 3 has the iPhone maybe it will choose to compete with an unlimited offer for its users.’
Orange did not comment.[/quotee
