My Dad is selling his classic Daimler SP250 Dart.

These are fairly rare (and a bit of an acquired taste) but the 2.5l V8 sounds superb :D

With an engine designed by Edward Turner it'll suit any bikers amongst us!

Thats a beautiful ... I'll have it for 18p, a washer and a scabby boiled sweet with sticky wrapper and fluff:)

It suits my acquired taste, better win the lottery!

I'm glad I scrolled through the replies before making a similar comment. Big difference between this and Mr Turner's earlier efforts, these engines don't mark their territory anywhere near as much.

In a previous life I retrimmed the interiors of a couple of these, one of which was originally a Metropolitan Police pursuit car.

You could be the brother I never had :D

Now most of the plod cars have been converted back to plod spec for shows - weird.

Looks like it may be sold already :( I used to enjoy driving that car when I got back to Dunblane.

Just watch the steering box on bumpy roads.
Tooling along at the top of Box Hill ( in a previous life ) my pal wiped the bottom of his steering box off on a bump. His balls fell out & turning the wheel had no effect at all!
Luckily his car jumped the grass lump between road & footpath & ' tramlined ' to a halt.
Brown trouser moment indeed.

Not really - not many of the SP250 were automatic ( if any )
The V8 in the Jaguar Mk2 bodyshell was, and the manual version of that was rarer that hens' whatnots.

Your mate might be a bit wrong. The SP250 had a cam and peg steering box, no balls in there from what I can remember.

My bad - whatever, we couldn't find any on the road although the bottom plate & sundry spacers were there.
Think the lack of support at the bottom of the column caused the problem.
Always pi$$ed me off his car was just that bit quicker than my Healey 3000. I couldn't even tow him home. Happy daze!
