Hi Guys,

Looking to get some Avon Storm Ultras fitted before the weekend and have been trying to find some fitters near where I work (old hill near cradley heath).

I've found Streetbike and Chemix Autocentres in Halesowen that do bike tyres. Does anyone have any experience of these guys and if they are any good?

Or does anyone know of any other local tyre fitters round that neck of the woods or south birmingham way? Basically I need to get them done this week and as I'm workin till 4 every day I'm looking for somewhere close that I can pop to after work.

Cheers, Al.

I have used chemix before for car tyres and i have never had tracking, wheel balancing and camber adjustments done by anyone half as good as them, they done a brilliant job, didnt know they done bike tyres.
Does speedaway bikes do tyres, thats close to you isnt it?

Didn't realise speedaway was so close to where I work. Cheers for that. I'll give them a ring to see what their prices are like.

Apparantly the Chemix at Halesowen and Stourbridge do a full ride in ride out motorbike tyre service (so their website says) so I'll see what their prices are like. When I get them done I'll post back with what the prices and service was like - wherever I get them done.

Chemix where expensive compaired to other places when Drew was looking, but can't fault there level of service when I had my car done.

Drew used Wheelhouse Tyres in Coleshill (more than likely to far)

On a different note do you ride though Old Hill around 8am in the mornings?

Got tyres fitted from Chemix on thursday night. Was a little bit more pricey than Wheelhouse Tyres in Coleshill, but needed to get them done before the weekend. Paid £250 front and rear ride in/out fitted for the Avon Storm Ultra 2s at Chemix, Wheelhouse quoted £220 ride in/out. Thats what you get for leaving things till the last minute!

What I will say about Chemix is the service and their attention to detail was fantastic. The bloke who fitted them seemed to really care about his craft. When torquing all the bolts he put tipex marks on the heads so that I could visually check any movement without having to carry a torque wrench on my trip the weekend. He also swapped the plastic value caps for some chrome hex caps for free saying they would be better. Little touches like that make me think they really know their game.

The bloke also spent quite a bit of time chatting about bikes after he fitted the tyres and explaining the scrubbing in (as it is my first time) and giving me a few pointers on biking and riding in general. All in all I was really happy with their service and felt they actually put the customer first for a change! Even though it was more expensive, I would go back to Chemix as I trust them to do a good job. I'll definitly take my car there when the tyres need doing on it.

Tyres are scrubbing in quite nicely - certainly better than the stock. Front braking has improved dramtically - should have got them changed sooner!

Lily - Could be me going through old hill about 8am, although would have only been last week as only just started job over there - (blue naked K7 pointy)
