Someone said on here that the AMBER LOW FUEL Warning light starts flashing when it gets really low.

Mines an 03 sv650 so will mine blink? And if so (approx) how much fuel is left when it starts blinking?

Im only curious as im trying to get the tank right down to get a better idea of mpg ands tank range.

Thanks

The light will start flashing when you have a gallon left in the tant. And on later models it will then go constant when you have a litre left (not sure if that covers yours)

No - K3 will just get the light at reserve and no flashing at critical.

You don't have to run the tank to empty to work out your MPG. You already know how many litres the tank is.

Fill the tank to the top. Ride bike. When you need to fill it to the top again record how many miles you did against how many litres of fuel you put it. Convert the litres to gallons. Divide the measure of fuel into the miles completed. There you have your MPG. Once you have your MPG you can work out how far you can go on a full to empty tank. Of course you need to account for different riding styles and roads you are travelling as this will make a big difference to your MPG.

Fuelly (http://www.fuelly.com/driver/simesb/zx6r) is quite cool - fill the tank to the brim and record the miles. It works everything out for you. (just remember to set it to UK measurements)

Does this sort of thing too if you are anal about it.

I want to see how many miles the tank does. The light came on at 116 miles which I though was a bit ****. Ill have to start riding it less manly!

I have anothe dumb query I suppose regarding filling the tank. On my k3 under the filler there is a dome with a hole big enough for the fuel filler nozzle. Do you just fill to the top of that or can you fill above that dome? Thanks?

You can fill up to the neck of the tank.

116 miles to the tank??????? its not a mo ped you have to change out of first lol!!!
my K6 does 170 miles to a tank when commuting, and i usually hover around 80 mph. I've never had the light stay on yet but it has been blinking. I get in the region of 54 mpg too. Costs approx. £15-£16 to fill back to the brim. Mpg is easy to calculate too. litres / 4.5 = gallon. mileage /gallon = MPG
ie 14.49 / 4.5 = 3.22 170 / 3.22 = 52.7950311
