That is Cape Town (pics sent in by my Mum). Scary to think what this means for good old Global Warming.

2012 (http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3444113945/) here we come!

Is it salt then? I was told it was 20c down there by a chap who just returned from the first week of the world cup lol

Apparently it's ice. SA is like that though, huge temperature fluctuations in winter.

What a load of old cobblers! Those pics did the rounds as Durban a few years ago. I think the pics were originally taken somewhere in Alaska or Canada. I can't remember where exactly, but I think your mum's been had mate. BBC have been live from Slaapstad all this week and its been a lot warmer than that...

Same pictures from 2006 are here (http://fishki.net/comment.php?id=13071)... Tineye (http://www.tineye.com/) can help check if the image has been used elsewhere previously.

it would never get cold enough in cape town to freeze sea water. capetown is near enough along the same latitude as sydney in australia and montivideo in uruguay.

You gotta go a lot more south than that to get iceburgs. It does get a bit chilly in South Africa in winter but never enough to freeze seawater on railings like that.

Ignoring for a moment the fact it's not actually Cape Town... my god those pictures look cool. Almost unreal.
