My SV for sale :(

It has a GSXR 600 front end, GSXR 1000 (05) shock, rebuilt suspension linkage with new bearings (no slack!), stripped forks and new oil, forks are like new. New brake discs all round and HH pads, new roller bearing head bearings, braided brake lines F+R. Stebel nautilus horn (REALLY loud:smt119) nightbreaker headlight bulbs. Service history, I service it myself new oil + filter, valve clearances checked 500 miles ago, throttle bodies balanced, new chain and sprocket 500 miles ago, brakes stripped and regreased. New Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier tires 1000 miles ago. SV1000 snorkel and K&N filter and stubbied CCC can (with optional baffle;)).

SV1000 speedo setup with speedo healer so no unsightly magnets on discs etc - OEM conversion.

Most bolts have been replaced by stainless items. Datatool system 3 alarm to keep the insurance bods happy.

Mileage is around 15k, paintwork is generally very good with the odd scratch here and there. Never been down the road or dropped. MOT til May 2011 and tax til November. Also all pillion parts with it.

£2000 ONO call me on 07545 907 799 (Iain)

You need to ride this bike to see how much better it is than stock! The suspension upgrades really do transform it, and the front brakes are outrageously good! Got to go as i now need a car for work and can't afford both and unfortunately I rarely get a chance to use the bike these days :(

Any questions fire away and viewings are welcome, no cash no test ride!

 after all that work?

That's a good deal for someone.

MOT til May 2010 and tax til November.
Do you mean 2011?

svdemon
19-06-10, 05:04 PM
Oh aye good point its 2011!!!

I like the work part as much as I do the riding part! Its a shame really as it is now how I wanted it all along but needs must unfortunately :(

OK thanks Ian - I just need to insure this up as I am a new rider and looking to buy a bike, so not too sure if all the mods will kill me on insurance. Don't know if this is anything you can advise on?

yorkie_chris
08-07-10, 05:25 PM
Careful choosing your insurance company and it should be ok.

svdemon
08-07-10, 05:58 PM
Any insurance company i've spoken to have said the suspension makes no difference, most are only interested in power gains. You may as well buy a bike with these mods as you'll want to do them to a stock SV after about 30 seconds of crashing through potholes on the stock suspension!

11-07-10, 03:44 PM
can i ask where you got your belly pan from?

svdemon

I don't know where it came from as it was on the bike when I got it, its the best one i've seen mind!

Still not one offer on this bike!

Hi. Love the bike. I keep coming back to look at it!

I'm wondering, what is the ride height like, and has the Gixxer suspension made it any taller? I'm a bit of a short @r5e and my old ZX636 was the absolute limit in terms of height for me to be able to ride comfortably. I am just wondering what SV 650's are like in that respect?.... as I'm rather fancying one.

Thanks

svdemon
13-07-10, 04:48 PM
Gixxer shock is exactly the same length and the forks are a bit shorter so its a bit lower at the front. I would go as far as to say its the perfect bike for you! ;)

blakes
13-07-10, 04:53 PM
So the ride height is quite low then?

It would be if it was a couple of hundred miles closer and a couple of hundred quid cheaper!

Don't be afraid to travel for the right bike, I went to Manchester to get this. A quick train journey is no big deal!

blakes
13-07-10, 05:03 PM
Its been a few years since I rode... wouldn't much fancy riding back all that way at the moment really. Its a shame really.

Bibio
13-07-10, 05:08 PM
how low do you want to go?

i can get it low enough for someone 5'1" to get their feet almost 'cpl mm' on the floor (me)

this involves a seat scoop, lowering dogbones and front end drop to match the rear.

you will not be disappointed with the handling/comfort of this bike all the mods have been done. ok if you want you could go to the expense of getting front/rear springs to match your weight but i doubt you would tell the difference unless you took it onto a track. the different suspension realy does make a good bike into a great bike.

I just wondered if they are quite a big bike or not, as standard (or in this case with the Gixxer mods) due to my size. Or lack of (5ft 6ish!)

svdemon
13-07-10, 06:40 PM
Someone who's around that height will come along soon enough no doubt, i'm 5'9 and i get both my feet flat down and then some

Bibio
13-07-10, 06:43 PM
on a standard k4> i'm on my tippytoes and i'm 5'1" short. on a k3 its a ballet dancer act. suspension mods and seat scoop and i'm sitting almost flat footed. with just a lowered (suzuki accessory) seat i'm on the balls of my feet.

you at 5'6" should be on the balls of your feet and with a lowered seat you should be flat footed'ish.

i would suggest you go and sit on one and decide for yourself, but there are loads of things you can do to get them lower. there was a member on here who was 4'10" if i remember who got her bike low enough to feel comfortable to ride.

lowering a bike can be done on almost anything but the SV is one of the easiest to do.

I've now had interest from a few parties, don't be afraid to hire a van and take a drive to see some bikes then if you buy one put it in the back of the van and bobs your uncle.

Don't be afraid of a wee drive to sunny Scotland!! Just remember your rain jacket!!

Bedhead
31-07-10, 09:40 PM
If I was in the market for a 2k SV, I'd have it off you in a shot, but at the minute, you can't seem to give the things away. A lot of people don't like modified bikes though, even if the mods increase the performance, I've tried selling bikes with different front ends and I've always been asked if they were front ended. :(

svdemon
31-07-10, 09:43 PM
I was thinking the same myself the mods are purely about quality, I could not go back to a bike with crappy budget suspension for the comfort factor alone!

Bike looks mint mate just wondering how easy it is to add the full fairings to it and how much would that cost?

svdemon
01-08-10, 04:51 PM
I would imagine its 4 bolts and however much the fairings cost off ebay, personally I much prefer the SV with a belly pan seeing as its a naked bike really.

Also the belly pan on this is very rare and the best one in my opinion!

svdemon
06-08-10, 07:14 PM
Oh well it didn't sell!

Who wants a complete GSXR K3 front end to go straight on a pointy SV? £600

Bedhead
06-08-10, 08:13 PM
Dunno if you'll get £600 for it. I'm broke till next week though.

svdemon
06-08-10, 10:45 PM
£600 is very reasonable for a plug and play conversion, you'll sell your SV stuff for more or less the same so its essentially a free upgrade if you can do the work yourself.

barwel1992
07-08-10, 01:12 AM
£600 is about the going rate, last year you could have had a USD front for the same price but not any more

Bedhead
07-08-10, 07:12 AM
You can bring a USD front end from the US for about £400 if you troll the net, add £100 for a SV1000 wheel and you're sorted.:)

You need to know a friendly breaker for the wheel.

svdemon
07-08-10, 08:15 AM
And then you need bearings, brake pads, good discs a speedo set up and a tyre. Why would you use an SV1000 wheel and not the GSXR one? They must be like rocking horse poo!

Bedhead
07-08-10, 09:45 AM

Exactly why you use the SV wheel, the two are interchangable, but when you say "GSXR" to a breaker, they load the price up. The USD fronts I see advertised are complete with calipers and are frequently brand new.

GSXR's tend to have a lot of front end shunts, maybe that why the wheels are rare.

It takes a bit of time thought to get the stuff together. Over here we can use GSXR fronts in racing SV's so original SV fronts are pretty cheap.

Sad thing is, I would have bought yer front end but I just ordered a top yoke kit for my old stuff. :(

svdemon
07-08-10, 04:50 PM
I found the opposite to be true when I was looking on ebay for the parts to do this conversion SV wheels were a nightmare to find and GSXR wheels a lot cheaper, i'll just need to see how it goes on good old evilbay.

Seems such a shame to be breaking such a beaut, if only it had come up 2 months earlier!!

yorkie_chris
09-08-10, 07:02 AM
maybe that why the wheels are rare.

Blame racing.

Paddocks are a good place to look for wheels, get a complete set of wets on wheels and sell off the tyres, rear wheel etc. works out pretty cheap.

Afternoon all!

It doesnt help you at all Iain but i signed up especially to reply to this thread and say i would love this bike... Am after exactly this and would snap it up but have been looking for dealer options for the finance as i dont have 2k cash lying around. Checked behind the sofa and everything! :(

If you havent broken it by then (which i really hope you dont do / havent done!) then i'm actually up in edinburgh last few days of the festival fri 27th - Mon 30th and would love to take a peek... i'd have to do some financial jiggerypokery and some sweet talking of family members / bank manager before hand so wouldnt waste your time at the time if i hadnt sorted anything by then but its atleast a possibility and like i say am on the lookout!

Literally signed up right now to add my bit in here, apologies if i'm going against forum rules & not introducing myself first #-oso just a quick couple lines in here now and will catch up on that stuff in a few... hopefully i dont offend too much as i'm not signing up and immediately asking for help which does my nut in!

Anyway new rider, well still even doing my tests ...CBT / Theory out the way and booking mod1 / 2 for early sept i hope so am on the lookout for the right bike, based in west mids, just down the road from wylie and holland! ... hopefully i'll be much more involved on here when i finally get hold of a k3/k4 first choice blue but havent seen the bronze / red / silver in the flesh so cant rule them out!

Cheers
Craig

hindle8907
01-10-10, 11:59 PM
mate iv asked several times to arrange a viewing with my pal who lives 3 minutes up the road from you
if you go meet him or let him come to you then you would of sold the bike by now if its in the condition it looks on those photos,i dont know whats going on but its beginning to seem a dodgy sale .
you live in bathgate my pal lives in linlithgow 5 minutes apart and you wont him view the bike .....
iv got money sat here waiting i just need the all clear from my biker pal before i talk about the sale in seriousness as said in the PM's. when can he come over to see the bike ?

And BTW I'm not offering less as said above after I have been given the all clear from my biker pal who is willing to come to your house to view the bike then we can talk business.

getting offers is one thing but when you have someone who livs down the road and your are refusing a viewing based on an offer that someone else off the net has made just seems ludicrous.

if you want a sale then reply to the text messages sent from my guy.

hindle8907
02-10-10, 10:29 AM
Look mate there no point in haggling about prices untill Somone has viewd the bike it's pointless if u was after a sale I'm sure you would would let people come view the bike As requested manny times so it appears you don't want rid or there is something fishy going on. I'm in the car as I post the on the way to view a bike I anit made the geeza a offer but after I have looked at the bike I might that's how it works .....

svdemon
02-10-10, 12:46 PM

hindle8907
02-10-10, 01:13 PM
You haven't said that once all you said is you have been offered more and told me the offer then i told you would beat it and you still didn't get back to me
.you banged on about how much you want rid of the bike in this thread, I'm sat here with your asking price and your still refusing a viewing.
based on a potential offer that's been on the table for 2 weeks.
you could of had your 2000 asking price a week ago if you would of let me mate come see the bike when he phoned you up.
