Hi All,

I recently bought this tail tidy unit from eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140406528961&_trksid=p2759.l1259

I fitted this last night and it is quite neat. However now I have two big gaps between the tail tidy unit and the side panels where the original plate bracket had two plastic triangular sections that filled the gaps in.

Looking at other tailtidy units (evotech and hamicad) they provide a "sealing plate" to fill these gaps. I have emailed the ebay seller to find out if there should be a sealing plate as part of the kit I bought, but I have not heard back yet.

What are your experiences with tail tidy units? Do all of you that have fitted tail tidys have these sealing plates?

Thank you
Ed.

Yup i would have thought new fitting plates would have been used unless its made to bolt right onto the original ones?

It does bolt straight on but the shape is different from the original unit, leaving these gaps on the side.

The seller got back to me saying that the sealing plate is not included in teh kit and that most customers leave the gaps open, which is not very nice...And I wonder if they can be harmful in the long run with water potentially splashing back into them

Even with my Hamicad there was a slight gap but i cut out 2 shapes from a black dvd case and wedged them into place before screwing them in. Looks better than it sounds ;)

That s interesting...I may be able to fashion something similar.

These are the gaps I am dealing with...not very nice:

That's pretty bad. My gaps on the Hamicad are just very small things and not in that location. Something does look like it is missing

I have a pair of R&G fitting plates hiding somewhere but by the looks of the pics i doubt they'd do anything for the big gap.

The fitted part and the ebay advert don't look the same shape. The pic on ebay looks like it would just about fill the gaps. The points on the fitted pics aren't the same.

looking at the tail tidy that hes fitted its one thats been made cheap to fit a range of bikes, not custom made for your bike.

plate is made the shape it is to fill the gap for a diff bike/model.. but as it fits on the same mounting points they have listed it for that bike..

the kit i posted has a cnc made plate that fits with the tail tidy to fill the gap..

looking at the pics you posted mate looks like the gap is there dew to someone taking a knife to the under tray

Dont be sorry was my fault sorry i totaly read your post wrong lol Hence why i change it lol .. I agree with you the Ebay one dos not look right to fit a K3 + bike but a 99-02 .. But as the mounting points match up with the K3 they listed it to fit....

I've got an R&G one. It fits quite well well and all gaps are covered. It was a total **** to fit though. I wasn't too pleased dismantling a brand new bikes back end to get it on. GSXR's etc are just four bolts to swop old for new.

yes I agree, I was also surprised by the amount of dismantling necessary to get access to the license plate bracket!

My Evotech one went on quite easily (15 mins) and includes a coverplate to bridge the gaps in the undertray.

My R&G one only took 1hour once they had sent me the right mounting plates.
