Does anybody have any idea what the normal costs are for a band to perform at a wedding evening. Just a normal pub type band not Oasis:). Should there electrical gear be PAT tested and should they have Public Liability Insurance?

You get what you pay for, a crap act with shonky PA might do it for a couple of hundred, a good one who'll do a good job and have good equipment would be more like £1 - 2K depending on how many members it has. PAT testing and insurance is more a sign of a serious act than compulsory items.

think is dependent on numbers in band and how good they are. The last ones I saw were £950 but the were damn good. Ideally PAt tested not necessary and defo on insurance - just in case someone trips over their leads or stands

The band at our wedding are freinds of ours so they did it cheap...£500 cash. For this they bought their own PA, backline and lights. We had two sets of about 45-50 minutes each.

As a professional band - and a very good one at that - they normally go out for upwards of £1100 via their agency.

This is what they do for a living so they have their own transport, insurance and their gear is PAT.

PAT is required by some venues.
