I've added another fairly common sense one to my list today but common sense isn't my forte.
*) Do NOT adjust your windshield to try and catch up with Mr Ninja.
(the change in profile and sudden faceful of wind is not condusive to good handling).

DON'T allow your nose to become itchy. You can't do anything about it and your eyes will start watering.

Itch your ear.
Twitch. I have a very good friend who has a twitch. It's quite severe. It starts in his arm and ends with his whole torso doing a massive jerk. Was following him down the autobahn in Germany once we were both in top gear with the throttle just about fully open. We both had gixxer 750's. In the outside lane when I saw the tell tale signs of a twitch. I throttled back and waited. He did his twitch and swerved from lane three across all lanes into the hard shoulder. Normally if he knows the twitch is coming, he'll let go of the handlebars for a split second which is enough for the twitch to pass. It was rather frightening and funny all at the same time.
That's funny and scary at the same time :)

Try and put in iPod headphones...
The scary thing is I've seen someone do it at about 40mph, not a word of a lie. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

We all used to d ick around on our 'peds in the old days. It was possible to smoke whilst riding (but they didn't last long), and one of our clan used to eat sherbert fountains as he rode his Honda ss50. One time he tipped his head back to endulge in that final pleasure of tipping the last of the sherbert into his mouth and rode straight into a phone box.

I do believe the topic of this thread mentions "High Speed" so `peds and smoking doesn`t qualify , the image of the guy going for the last of the Sherbert is hilarious , that must have been like watching a "Carry On" film .

Anyone can smoke a ciggy on a bike , the true art is fishing a zippo out of a closed pocket or jeans , flipping the lid open and actually lighting it . I saw an old boy do this on some blatty old single cylinder thing and it beggared belief , and this was on a 70 mph dual carriageway as well .
