Hi!
The other day I was told the -99 650 engine vas to have an oil delivery problem that the newer engines did not have?
And that -00 up engines handled oil delivery better when doing for example wheelies.
Is this true?
I’ve locked at “Ron Ayers” online micro fiche but was not able to find any difference but then again, that was me locking..

Right

There was an issue I recall on the first 99 bikes and a baffle plate had to be fitted.

As for wheelies, SV don't handle them well. the pickup will be out of the oil, cause starvation and kaput. So please no sustained wheelies if you want the engine to last

It should have been rectified with a recall I think.

An official dealer may be able to see whether the bike in question has been recalled, based on VIN number or similar.

Yes they fitted a baffle plate to sump, newer ones had baffle as standard, pointy has that hole in cases closed up rather than using plate.

Guy on here was getting away with some very long wheelies until he tried it with the oil below the full line.

Be warning it will burn some oil off doing long stand ups/

Thank you all, I will check with dealer.
-I know that wheelies are not god on (almost any) engine, but this “I know everything” guy… I just had to check if my -99 rely is worse then the rest.

this will give you the vin range recalled within the UK http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/

It only involves around 1300 of the early bikes build in late 1999

Just checked and I believe my bike falls into the VIN numbers recalled. Is it worth checking into a suzuki dealer to double check? Also if my bike was meant to be recalled but wasn't taken in for some reason am I still able to get it sorted? (free?)
Regards

*Edit* Called a suzuki dealer and they checked system for outstanding recalls, all clear **

To check if you have plate installed you need to take of generator cover, you can see plate behind rotor on bottom side.
This is picture of sv400 case with hole in question.

This is 00 (and maybe some late 99) case which eliminated internal plate and added casting. This are the ones that had oil starvation problem and where recalled to install external plate and close rest of hole.
