...setting off for the Alps:p:p:p

Leaving about 10, meeeting Andy at Brampton Hut services (A1(M)/A14 at Huntingdon) then to Folkestone, overnight stop, ferry Friday morning, stopping over Friday night at Mussy-sur-Seine (about 300 miles from Calais, between Troyes and Dijon) and on to the Alps Saturday.

I did ask on here if anyone would like to come with but nobody wanted to come with - either the timing was wrong, it was too £££ or the wife would never agree - so I'm going with a bloke who organises trips - Bill Roughton, trades as Bike Tours UK - there are about 18 of us going, have been emailing so we're not strangers. An alarming number ride a Versys:o

Bought a spare CF card for my camera so I will bore you all with pics when I get back.

Woohoooooooooo:p Just a bit excited!!!!

Certainly is! The Col de L'Iseran is just up the road too, a great road on a bike. My kayaking buddy cooked his turbo on that!

Have a great time Ed. Just a tinsy bit jealous!

They will take a while cos there are so many... and I need to find the camera charger to be able to download them as the camera battery is flat.

I'm planning next year's trip already...

Saw Daimo's piece - he was in Bourg just a bit before me and had snow... we had sun and it was damned hot, typically 30C in the valley, maybe 15 - 20C on the tops, except for the day I went up La Grande Motte on the cable car to 3500m when it was about 10C. And on the way home, It was around 37 - 38C in eastern central France:cool:

Sounds good... do you recommend the chap you went with?

What was the pace like?

1. Yes.

2. Fast but not stupid fast, except for hooning it back up the autoroute to get the ferry. I will cover all this in my diary... I kept detailed notes.

I await a French speeding ticket... I set off a camera in a tunnel. I was liking the sound of my TOR can, it was sounding like jet afterburners - and rather overcooked it:rolleyes:

You will be waiting a while for it...

I got snapped a couple of times and never received a thing.

In france the speed limits dropped to 50kph on bridges and I stayed at 90kph when I was flashed (in my car). Front facing cameras to at night, I about shat my pants until my eyes readjusted.
