How are we going to tell you what size shims you need if you do not tell us what size are fitted!
Change front exhausts for ones .08 smaller for start
I've just checked the thou and if the 6 1/2 has the same gaps, then you need to change the front exhaust shims. You don't know what you need until you know what's fitted so you need to get that front cam out.
Buy a thou... it's a lot easier to do :p

No it isn't! The time you save not removing tensioners is outweighed by the extra stuff in the way around rear pot.

The rear pot is a bit tight but it's only a couple of connectors and pull the looms to the side. I just pushed the heat shield back. Nothing else in the way. I could have done with a shorter extension bar for getting the plugs out.

I remember it being a pain for some reason. Could have been PAIR system or something, who knows.
Maybe because I am so used to doing job on the curvy it does not seem hard work any more.
Don't know Chris. I never did my 6 1/2 pointy. Pair breather clip came off by fingers. White connector was hardest, but surely not having to mess with cam chains and tensioners is a big bonus. I did the shims twice on my 85 Z1100R and that was dead easy even with the chain over cams.

SV1000 definitely easier, if you only need to change the shim/s on one cam, that's all you have to remove.
Not that the 650 is difficult.
Wideyboy: How are we supposed to know what shims you need if you don't tell us what's in there now?

I answered your question didn't I. If you don't like it there is a poster ignore button.
If you think I'm putting kid gloves on to tell people same thing as what is written in manual in their hand you are very much mistaken. I'm a Yorkshireman, I say what I like and I like what I bloody well say!

oh in that case shut the tech section, after all, we all have manuals and understand them so there's no need for it
well im a shire'man so i'll say this.... your a **** and there is the prime example of a ****s attitude. speak to those with the same you wish to be spoken. speak to people like **** and its going to come right back at you, show some courtesy and change your attitude or get used to it, its called life and its a right barsteward you know
i've voiced my opinions to mods about this a few times at meets at yet nothing is done so i'll post it instead

Yes actually, when I ask a question I want an answer. I don't want a load of la di da crap, just info.
I would also expect a sarcastic/p*ss taking answer if I had missed something obvious.
My apologies if I'm not suitable for the role of social worker.
