No. Did the same with my super loud stubby with no bother. I did get some evil looks going through the narrow village streets though

+1. I did France with a LOUD exhaust with no problem at all. Just remember to stop and see the country as well as riding through it:driving:

What about fixed speed cameras? Not that I'm planning on doing stupid speeds, just curios.

they are grey, a barsteward to spot and waist hight iirc. forward facing but pretty much everyone will warn you of them

I didn't get flashed so can't really tell you. They are well sign posted they always have a sign about 500 yards before the camera. The camera's are about three or four feet tall and are painted yellow and black so you shouldn't miss them.

Yeah, perhaps they are mainly grey but IIRC they have yellow and black chevrons on them.

I've got an inforad which warns me of the fixed ones so no problem. The first time I was there though, I didn't have the inforad and like Gav says, they can be hard to spot.
Once I was going round a tight right hairpin, bike cranked over, then suddenly saw one right beside me  but luckily it was front facing.

Welll you can't get much louder than a VRaptor with twin M4s. We had to accompany my best mate in her search to register her z1000 on French plates, and had to quietly sit outside the cop shop in Rochefort.

The Gendarmes were very very interested with this English plated Raptor .......for about five minutes, obviously never seen one before, never battered an eyelid about the noise(well they wouldn;t be they were deaf) ;-)

If you are on peages, the way to get around the average speed cameras is, to stop and have a brew a lot. But be aware that there are unmarked cars sitting on one side of a toll, and another one further down, they like to watch you carefully.
