i was hoping to be spinning myself round a track tomorrow but have been told im not allowed and now i want to and its not fair
seeing as last time i tried to arrange this i threw myself down the road, i thought i'd try it again..... the arranging part!!
post your ideas ect here.... as for track im thinking castle combe? and date tba but probably best after ar?
obviously its date dependant for people, myself included but please only post if you are genuinely interested in doing one and not back out after a bit saying you have to wash your hair as i've yet to do one and most of my friends that do are hardcore racing types

Sounds good to me. Im wanting to do a track day this year.
If you're looking at doing Combe, be warned that they have very stringent noise levels.
If you have standard cans get them fitted.
I wanna come but cant do castle coombe as they are too tight on noise. not gunna fit my standard just to go there
Cant we go somewhere else? like go do an evening session at brands?
Wanted to do one for as long as I've been passed.
I'll start saving now, so count me in.
Standard SV and 2 piece zip together leathers sufficient?

You may get away with it with the db killer in, if you have the means of getting it noise tested before hand that might be good.

Standard can will be fine, as will your leathers.
Ideal - please count me in

I'll be up for this. Most tracks will let you go along on a track day, just to get a noise test. They do it as they want you to come back and do a day with them.
WB....you'll deffo have to check yours. The Castle Coombe noise level is max 105db. Not that bad actually compared to others!

Noise isnt a problem for me as i'll have to put standard back on regardless of where it is
:-( i will try but im thinking it wont pass. Will check it out next week sometime
Pretttttttyyy please can we go brands plllllllllllleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase[-o<

That's alright then Gav!
Castle combe gets my vote as it's less than 10 minutes away :-)...but I'll go anywhere!
Will need to be after the AR for me though.

Castle Coombe is probably closest. Will keep an eye on threads for dates, but I am very limited date wise.
More on noise regs here...
http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/trackdays/bikeinformation.asp
IIRC they are a bit strict noise why due to the locals complaining about the noise. But I am not 100% sure of this.

Nope, you're right, when I spoke to them they said they have to be strict as the locals complain that often, there is actually a group set in Castle Combe to lobby and moan! Crazy huh!

+1 to that. I'm the same, I want to track it, but binning it would render me bikeless :(
These will supply Castle Combe, £180 a day to hire, £250 excess if you stack it.

A bit pricey, know what condition they're like? most track hire companys cars i've seen has been fit for the scrapper
:cyclopsani::confused::rolleyes::cool::twisted::sm t072:tiesto::smt016:smt112:reaper::smt026:smt026:s mt026:smt026:rave:
:-dd
It is a bit pricey but if I stack it - my insurance won't cover me and recovery won't take me home!
How much is track hire on top of bike rental? I can see this getting even more pricey :(
gruntygiggles
28-06-10, 10:05 AM
Castle combe, with the company Cuffy linked to would be £125 for the track day, £180 for the bike hire and £250 excess if you bin the bike. This does not include fuel though, which you have to pay for on the day.
£325ish all in for the day then? That's pricey - I better get saving!!
Surely there are cheaper options?!
gruntygiggles
28-06-10, 10:15 AM
Ben, call your insurance and ask how much for one day track insurance.
Good plan - I'll also at the same time request the policy documents that they neglected to send me through the post or via email! There must be some law broken there - I'll find it.
Best enquire about recovery too - better to be safe that sorry.
Don't crash! Simples ;)
You don't have to go out thinking your Rossi, take each session as it comes, if you start to feel tired and thinking your getting close to the edge of your limits then miss the next session. Assess how you've been riding or ask others who are in the same session with you, preferably the instructors.
For your first few times out on track go at a pace you're comfortable with, as the day progresses then you can start to think about later braking into corners. Don't try and get your knee down into the 1st corner of your 1st session as you'll probably find that the rest of your body will follow.
It's hard, but self constraint is of paramount importance if taking your road going bike on hte track.
[QUOTE=cuffy;2306568]Don't crash! Simples ;)[QUOTE]
Point taken - but I'll be so nervous on my own bike! I'll just take it steady then as £325 all in for a track day is on the expensive side.

Brans is a nice idea and i'd like to do a trackday there but its not an ideal location. For a start its not really close to any of us, i no longer have ideal access to a van so i'd be riding to the track as would most people?, people coming from a far will need digs which costs money, an evening session would still require a day off work and still maybe some digs and i'd prefer to do a full day for the sake of loosing a days money if not at the weekend...... so its not really practical for anyone........ so need to think of somewhere else
as of td insurance, like said it would probably be less than hire cost... but regardless i've crashed so many times my garage is full of sv spares

Not sure thats really the point  lol. Think Brans has a no first timers policy on their evening sessions? might be wrong. Hadnt thought about track day insurance, might be a good idea though.
Castle Combe would be even better - I'm not far away and I have room for another to crash at mine and space in the garage for one other bike if needs be. I'm a 20/25 minute ride away - 15 if you push it, but I wanna stay shiny side up at least until I arrive :)
Wideboy
28-06-10, 02:13 PM
i dont mind were it is, i have access to vans but only one guaranteed and i can only get my bike in it with the back open so i'd rather not use it... but it would be handy with tools ect
what track will be put to vote its not my decision... same as date but we've all pretty much said after ar
gruntygiggles
28-06-10, 02:15 PM
Well, to say it again....if it is voted to be castle combe...everyone is welcome to crash at ours. There's room for 1-2 extra bikes in the garage, but we have hardstanding (no stones) at the side of the house. Will just need to move some stones out the way for you to get on it...lol
i have a long wheel based master, with tools etc that will def be coming with so dont worry too much about having tools etc. think we can cover it
For the record - I vote Castle Combe
for the record i vote other, as i cant ride at castle combe. But end of the day i can ride most other places on acu testing, was really looking to spend the day with org folk. So its cool if you lot want to go cc. I'l just meet up with you all another time
Wideboy
28-06-10, 02:45 PM
Change your system then, your not the only one having to ar5e about with your bike to go, im having to change all sorts and take all sorts off......
i am well aware that im not the only one gav, but im not gunna spend loads of time messing about with my bike when i will have to spend loads of time changing it all back again for the next round. Got enough bike stuff to be doing

Personally I'd prefer Castle Coombe, as Evel says, its not to far and we dont have to shell out for hotels, camping staying over etc, so it makes life easier, and also it keeps the cost down as I am a bit financially challenged at the moment.
If I am able to make it, I am happy to lend a non rider my DSLR with my Tele lens on it if somebody wants ago at snapping a few pics.

When you ring them can you ask about those who might want to share a bike, is the charge per bike or per person, bearing in mind if you are sharing a bike then you might not get the same amount of track time. Is there a limit (within reason obviously) to how many people can share a bike?
