View Full Version : What van to hire?!
Hi all,
I'm moving house at the end of August from down south to up north so seeing as I currently have a one bedroom house I'm going to hire a van.
I've added the larger items up size wise using an internet site which has come to about 530 cubic ft., I intended to hire a luton van which comes in at 550 cubic feet so I'm getting fairly close without adding up all the odds and sods. Next size up is a 7.5t truck which I think is a bit overkill, has anyone got experience of this or suggestions? I know it's a bit of an impossible question but I thought I'd see what you lot think :)
freecycle all your old stuff, move with suitcases and buy new when you get to next house...HTH

Make sure you get one of those eleccy tailgates with it, it gets tiring jumping in and out for the 100th time
Get a 7.5tonne then you won't need to worry or make a 2nd trip. Theres always more stuff than you think!!
recently i used a 18ton curtin sider to move from my two bed house! was free to use from work though, and everything went in on the floor no need to stack anything lol. when i moved from my flat in plymouth to kent a few years ago we squeesed everything in a merc panel van, a luton should do you fine, but as tigersaw says make sure it has a taillift makes loading washing machines easer..
Next size up is a 7.5t truck :)
Get a 7.5tonne
does your licence have c1 on it?

you can hire a luton van with upto 950 cubic ft capacity, have a look at this link.
Large luton 500-750 cubic ft.
Jumbo dropwell 950 cubic ft.

Also play one company off the other as most can reduce thier initial quote.

Hire the bigger van, stop being a tight ****, then you don't have to ditch any of your stuff.
from dave preston sitting here with a pint
unless your a girl you should only need a tankbag and some pockets in your textile jacket
if more is required save some cash by not getting your next manicure and put it towards a bigger van
