Got it dropped down today by the seller. My first big bike and I love it! I'm a very happy man at the moment :D so does it look okay (for a pointy that is ;))

Wow...that is crying out for a high level stubby can and a tail tidy!

Nice looking bike.

That looks very tidy. I see its an 04 plate, but you do know its a k3 model don't you? (just in case, as there are a few k3 specific parts).

Thanks for the comments guys :D

Yeah, I know it's a K3, the owner informed me but thanks rowdy, I couldn't have told it. So what parts are k3 specific?

From the Haynes.

"The rear sub-frame mountings are revised, lowering the frame hight 40mm and a thicker seat is fitted as standard - an optional seat, lowering the seat height 15 mm was available."

There is also only 1 stage to the fuel light where as later models have 2 warning stages plus the radiator is sightly different in size. There might be others but that's all I can think of at the moment. :)

the K3 was the best looking with the higher rear subframe ;)

nice bike chap, now mods in this order....stubby, tail-tidy and seat cowl :D

the K3 was the best looking with the higher rear subframe ;)Yes, quite agree.
As said, the rear subframe is different, making the rear of the bike higher. This in turn means that the riders seat is different from any other model year, as are the side panels that cover the seat locating bolts. The tool kit on a k3 is placed under the pillion seat, on later year bikes there is a tool kit box located just in front of the rear shock. This means rear huggers and undertrays need be ordered for k3 model, as later model huggers may* foul the toolkit box, but I am pretty sure that the hole drilled in the swingarm where the rear brake hose clip bolts to it is also in a slightly different position. Rearsets are different. K3 mirrors have longer (by about 1") arms on them so afford more visibility than later models. I think the snow shovel on the back is different, but most end up in the bin anyway.
There are probably many more things that I haven't mentioned, for example the crush washers that are on the oil cooler pipes are also k3 specific, according to the dealer that I purchased some from last week.

*I am not 100% sure on this one.

A tail tidy, although looking great, does remove your rear reflector, which is a crying shame! :-|

My K3 has rear hugger, tail tidy, double bubble screen and custom painted side panels. What it needs next is the bar conversion finishing, a belly pan, a gel seat and some panniers. I love my bike me... :smt060

By the way, the Pointy is the Superior SV model, but as stated before, I would love to build a pointy/curvy hybrid because I think it would look amazing with pointy fairing on a curvy frame. :smt077

Ye gods, a fair bit different then. Is it hard finding k3 parts?

There are some tail tidies which allow the fitting of a reflector, I had one on my K3, but cut the reflector mounting off anyway. I stuck a small one on the corner of the plate for the MOT.

Wtf do we need a reflector for anyway? There's this sodding great yellow reflector 7" x 9" at the back for that purpose. Reflectors are a relic from a bygone age when we had non-reflective black and white plates, and the requirement to have one ought by now to have been scrapped.
