Just watched the first episode of the new series... we were crying with laughter during the Reliant Robin bit! And that Louis dancer guy, the image we can't get out of our heads is of him grimacing as he bends his leg straight up to his face in a trailer for Pineapple Dance Studio on Sky.

I can't remember which episode it was, but they had to get approval for something they built once, as they said it would never have passed the German equivalent (TUC?). Might have been the limos episode.

Edit - Was the limos episode as Clarkson's Panda was too long and had to be cut down a bit!

TUV . Pain in the butt it is , you basically have to go for an MOT for EVERY single mod you make on your bike

I think it all has to pass certain tests, cos if there was an accident due to an unsafe vehicle, you would still be prosecuted, the bbc wouldnt take that risk.

I think hamster was going to cook and melt all that concoction together hence the fire.

Loved the show though, i like when they do the build challenges.

For the reliant clips they closed off the roads had police blocks etc whilst doing the stunts. As for the towerblock camper on the motorway god knows? are there any closed sections of motorway at the mo they could have filmed on?

Thats the best episode of Top Gear for a long time. Purely because of the Senna piece in the last bit of the program.

Ah the sound of a V6 Turbo reminds me of being a kid watching "Grand Prix" with my dad...

I thought that too.
I would be seriously p1ssed off if I found out they rigged those lap times.
But yes the Senna bit was good, especially hearing the voice of James Hunt again:(

i'd say it was, both mullard the gearbox, tom went wide on the corners and both bounced it off the limiter on the approach to corners, yet they produce times close the F1 drivers

either that or they were allocated more laps then everyone else

anyone smell that?

anyone smell that?In a completely different car. remember that the F1 lot use the orginal Liana. The C apostophe D is mor powerful and 7 years newer in development so is probably quicker. I rekon that the stig shoudl always set a lap in the new cars so that they have a benchmark to aim for.

keithd
26-07-10, 07:19 AM
I dont think the lap times were rigged, i just think the laps you saw were not their fastest. Theres no way Cruises lap shown could have been his fastest doing part of it on 2 wheels, but then a normal fast lap would have the excitement of him nearly flipping it. im ok with it and thats what matters!

And the Senna tribute was fan swear word tastic! BIG thumbs up Lenny

Viney
26-07-10, 07:25 AM
I liked who excited Hamilton was in driving his car and saying 'Yeah im going to go round a corner one handed just to see what its like'

And that Veyron SS, crikey! 276mph AVERAGE, so that hit about 280 one way i reckon to do that.

That new Diaz and Cruise film must be total bilge if they have to appear on Top Gear.

That new Diaz and Cruise film must be total bilge if they have to appear on Top Gear.Well consider the fact that TG attacts a HUGE audience in the Uk, probably more than anyohter chat show type thing, including This morning, and its probably a film that points towards the male gender and as clarkson put it 'Everything blows up' then its just really good marketing, and the fact that they were sort of in the area doing the Premier, its also good for the show ratings.

As for the film, what do you expect its going to be, Lord of the rings with Tom Cruise on a Ducati? Its mindless leave your brain on the seat and enjoy type stuff. I'll be queing up thats for sure

barwel1992
26-07-10, 11:32 AM
i love the way he sead they had to use alight bike like the duc and yet for the most part they used an aprilia rxv 550 with duc crap stuck all over it ;)

Look at the engine case also the lack of SSSA and the other frame under the read stick on job, and the zip tie rear light

Yeah laps were rigged, so was james mays top speed in the veyron being artificially dramatised and slow, you see how it shot passed 417kmh on the test driver run! 267mph average.... jesus

-1 anyone who'd kick her out of bed is either mental, gay or a un-openminded lady.

And as for the that was faked business, everything shown on Top Gear in the last 5 or 6 years is either over dramatised, exagerrated or just totally made up.

It's just like the film being promoted, leave your brain at the door entertainment.

Apart from the bit about Senna.

A modern F1 driver in every aspect then. TBH I didn't know that about him either and was a bit shocked. Especially as it was clearly his (and probably his team's) plan from the start of the race. Ring any bells

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Formula_One_crash_controversy

My main memory of Senna is the final few laps at Monaco when Mansell was trying to get past, of course at the time I wanted Mansell to win but now I appriciate what skill he must have had.

I rarely watch F1 now but in those days it was a proper sport.
